Gamershell was fine for me yesterday once I got on one of the mirrors but have a look around as it seems to be popping up all over the place now.

Had a v.quick go of this last night and looks good so far, though I did my usual and whacked the settings right up so looked great but wasn't running too smoothly. Going to give it a proper play through later.

Gonna be downloading this tonight, i'm running a preety crappy machine though, athlon 2.0, 9800 pro. I can run Ep1 on medium levels with virtually no problems. Sound like this is going to be a bit more of a system hog. Time to upgrade ? or based on the demo do you guys think it will run ok.

Um, yeah, so after hours of waiting for this to download, I played through the 'tutorial' with very little excitement. Have you ever tried to kick someone in real life?
They go flying back, and yet an arrow or a sword through the head only pushes them back a little and they still come at you.
When the second level was loading it got all buggy and my frame rate fell into hell, so I quit and I'll try later after a nap.

After some hours with this I have to say I have lost interest somewhat - apart from Vampire Bloodlines there is something about source games that really annoy me - its hard to decide what it is but theres something.

Uninstall and back to Oblivion for me.

    Will do.

Remote desktop she says: Download complete and Installation Complete!

    So home, perchance to play.

    You'll probably have problems, the framerate on my Barton 3200 + X800XL + 1.5Gb memory wasn't great.

AA seems to be the real killer for me atm. Even using x2 makes the first section drop from a playable 40+ down to an unplayable sub 20fps. Luckily though it still looks pretty sharp with no AA, infact adding x2 AA gives a bit impact with no real noticable diff in IQ. Though the 2nd section still drops below 20 with the same settings. :(

Definatly need to run it lower settings than any of the other source based games that I have. (HL2, EP1 etc).

demo is a lot of fun and there is a lot of potential for mayhem in there, damn if oblivion had the combat system of this >.<

So I gave it another play through and overall it is pretty fun. Hopefully the rest of the game just gets better and better.
Thanks to absolutezero, I fought against the cyclops but I have no idea how to kill him. Even in his buggy/retarded state he kicked my ass.

Really cool, enjoyed it immensely. tried it out at 1024x768 with absolutly everything on and my doesnt it look nice!

the combat mechanics seem a little odd to me, much as it "feels" solid I find the flailing arms (especially with daggers) makes visability much more difficult.

Use the save file that I posted earlier on!

If you need a little incentive to give the demo another go how about this?

    http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/808101043/m/5551038074

Spawn any enemy in the demo (and a couple that are'nt) new weapons, no clip, god mode, all the spells and abilities.

Yeah its fire time. and then ice time. :p

I've also discovered that putting a bunch of humans on one side of a room and a bunch of Orcs on the other leads to some pretty cool battles.

I posted this question on the demo article, but seems like i'll have more luck with an answer here...

How does one end the prolouge mission? I've got to the point where Sarin says "that's all for now" and there's a glowing spider-door thing, but it won't open and nothing else happens.

    Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Incidentally, this game seems to torture my PC rather less that HL2 did...at first it was a bit jumpy, but knocking model detail down to medium helped a lot. Everything else has been left on the suggested settings.

    Athlon 64 3000+
    Geforce 6600GT (PCI-E)
1GB RAM, in case you were wondering.

You should be able to use the circular "lock" in the middle of the door.

BTW, I have (nearly) the same setup; I was a bit surprised by the relatively low framerates at first but then I realized HDR was on...

    Ho hum.
