Distancing myself from the Wii

Having had a quick look at the space I've allotted myself in my tiny spare bedroom, I reckon I'll be swinging the wiimote around about 1 metre from the detector.

Is that going to be too close, is there an optimal distance?

I don't imagine there is a minium distance. It has to work for all tv's and positions if its to take off.

I mean the sensors should still sense it, if your right in front of the thing.

The right answer at the moment is, I have no idea.

No kids, which is why I have time to worry about extra important things like this!

I can't find any answer of worth on the internets either.
