According to the relicnews forums you need to forward port 6112 and make sure your firewall isn't blocking outbound traffic on 30260 (not 30275, the readme.txt is incorrect).

Great game, carrot - when I saw that Calliope, I knew that was it. :)

And your snipers were a REAL pain in the arse.

Also, looks like I need to improve my tank-micromanagement - you completely owned me there with the inferior Allied tanks.

Shame that it didn't work with 3 players, sorry about that, psycho. :-/

    \o/ 1v1 worked.

Had a great game with UncleLou; could have gone either way for a long time, and I had a scare when Lou got a StuG out before I had any anti-tank gear researched. Eventually my trusty shermans and sticky-bombs managed to save the day. :)

    Gah!

I'd love to play you guys but:

    1. I have yet to buy the game,
    2. I don't know when I'll have time to play it and
3: my RTS skills are horribly inadequate.

    Ffs. :)

He once killed two squads of grenadiers who were both supposed to kill him.

Anyone around who would like a quick game on this?

    Xfire me - cheese001.

I will be cannon fodder, but its more about the taking part (my mum always told me!)

    Welly well well.

I'm going to dash out and buy this game to fix my unemployed boredom and I'm more excited than I have been about a game in years :)

Hope I can find it for a decent price in town or else I'll have to order the Game special edition thingy. Seems like a good way to spend my "day of rest" in between returning from Oktoberfest/Amsterdam and resuming the search for work.

edit: No, wait it's not just Game, EVERYWHERE seems to come with Dawn of War. Quality :)

Which is pretty sneaky really because it's obviously to encourage people to buy the new expansion pack that would never have considered it having not owned the original.

Whilst this has turned into a nice multiplayer matchup thread...can anyone give me some tips for single player? I'm on the Bridge Repair mission (I think it's mission 7 or 8, not sure) and I'm finding it to be an absolute nightmare. I can grab the town square fairly easily, but can only hold it for a grand total of about 8 minutes before I get hammered by the rocket barrages and swarmed by Panzers. I have fuck all in resources so simply can't defend myself well enough.

I'm tempted to leave the town square and just sneak about the map with a sniper, using the rocket-launching Sherman to blow the rocket positions up first, but that's a bit exploity, really. Can anyone suggest anything else to try that doesn't involve psychic premonition and/or exploiting the game engine?

GRab all the sectors surrounding the square, then it will automatically become yours. Then set up LOTS of tank traps and barbed wire to funnel the germans into 'kill zones'. Make sure you spread your men out so you dont take too many losses from the rocket fire (it all lands in the middle of the square, and put a few snipers in buildings. should be fine...

Is it just me or does this game play more or less identically to the old Bitmap Brothers game "Z"? Maybe I'm just naive and there's been loads of other games before and after Z with similar gameplay, but that's what CoH reminds me of...

    Question?

How do you disband blokes from guns. I ended up with no paras as everyone had tied themselves on to a team type weapon.

Impossible for movable guns, but possible for AAA and static defences that you capture. Unfortunate ommission really.

You have to start avoiding the temptation to capture/build too many...

edit This leads on to my other bugbear - the lack of a delete/retreat from battle order for a unit. The only way you can open up more manpower is to send them into the fiery jaws of death.

I don't suppose anyone could list the minimum specs for this for me could they?

I really fancy it but can't find the specs anywhere.

I think they've done it so that you can't exploit the reinforcement system to use a gun emplacement and an infantry squad to create infinite super-cheap infantry.
