MMA Fighting:Per the initial report, Souza disclosed a family member had tested positive for the virus upon arriving to the event’s host hotel on Wednesday in Jacksonville, Fla. He was asymptomatic, but the promotion awaited the results of a mandatory test required of fighters upon arrival. That test returned a positive result, UFC EVP and Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell told ESPN.com.I should have said he knew he might have it. Sorry for completely misrepresenting the facts! Even so he shouldn't have been allowed to really even leave his hotel room until the test came back. Edited by BigOrkWaaagh at 23:39:12 09-05-2020 |

Registered 4 years agoThat was one hell of a performance. I can't believe how one sided it was, he didn't even look like he'd been in a fight at the end. -

Registered 9 years agoGaethje was sensational, showed a lot of maturity not diving in like he would have when he first got in the UFC. Apart from that one uppercut at the end of r2 he totally controlled the fight. -
Was a great card and Justin was amazing. I also thought Tony looked off the pace somewhat. He didnt seem himself to me. Jesus christ can he take a shot as well. Ngannou is an absolute beast. He runs through everyone at the moment. -

Registered 16 years agoYeah, it felt like Tony didn't show up. He looked kind of slow and ponderous, throwing punches then leaving himself in terrible positions for far too long and getting hit.
I wonder if such a long training camp, two weight cuts and spending the majority of it preparing for a wrestler rather than a striker messed with his mojo.
That was the best version of Gaetche I've seen though, less reckless, harder to hit.
Ngannou seems to have learnt that he just needs to connect, even if it's messy as fuck 😆 -

Registered 9 years agoThe end of the fight reminded me a little of when Rory couldnt take any more punches from Lawler. I know he didnt want the ref to stop it but it was totally the right thing to do. -

Registered 13 years agoAlso Cruz did himself no favours with that whining. "I specifically asked him not to stop the fight unless I was on the ground." Well Dom, it doesn't really matter that you asked a referee to ignore the rules, he's going to do his job, and you got effed up. -

Registered 5 years agoI mean, yeah, maybe the ref is supposed to give him a chance to get up. I dunno the rules on that.
But I'm guessing... not if it's going to take ten seconds of taking free hits in the dial? -

Registered 14 years agoI thought it was a pretty bad stoppage. The hits on the ground weren't even connecting, and he was basically up by the time it was stopped. -

Registered 16 years agoIt's a tricky one cos after the knee he took about ten or twelve shots unanswered and not really defended, but, it did look like he was about to be fully standing... And it was a championship fight. Whether that should make a difference is another debate.
During the announcement at the end of the fight I'm pretty sure I heard Dom say 'fuck you' to the ref whilst pulling his wrist out his hand!

Registered 13 years agoI was fine with it. That knee knocked Cruz stupid, and standing up or not he wasn't intelligently defending. I can understand people saying it's an early stoppage though, but I don't think it's a massive controversy. -

Registered 9 years agoI though the ref taking longer to stop ngannou beating jarzinho to a pulp was a bigger issue.
Also can he fight hardy next please (I know it wont happen). -

Still cant work out why Hardy was on the main card and Pettis vs Cerrone was prelims. -

Registered 13 years ago@AddyB_ The CM Punk factor I suppose. I imagine he's a lot more famous from his NFL days over there than he is here. -
@BigOrkWaaagh
Yeah true. I hope he gets smashed soon. -

Registered 9 years ago@AddyB_ I think it's probably because Cerrone and Pettis are far more likely to cause people to buy the ppv than hardy. The last fight of the prelims is often a much better fight than the first and second on the main card. -
