This should be worth buying simply for the orchestrated Nintendo theme tunes.

Very much looking forward to this.

Tho...replacing young Link with cel-shaded Link? Why? The game only needs one Link ffs.

    I don't think it's replacing - I think it is as-well-as
  • Deleted user 6 March 2007 14:46:23
No, it does mention they're getting rid of young link.

Though cel-shaded Link is technicall a young Link anyway so really it only seems like a cosmatic change, and a good one at that.

    oh - apologies
  • Deleted user 6 March 2007 15:05:26
It was on the link that Ignatius_Cheese posted (does seem to be down now).

But in what I remember from it:

Ridley, Bowser Jr and Cel-Shaded Link in
    Young Link out
Hopefully around 40 odd characters, with possibly more from non-Nintendo games

I hope Ridley has 'annoying scream' and 'turn really, really red' special moves ^_^

What with the Wii being my first Ninty console, I am utterly unaware of the series. Someone care to sell it to me?

Oh, and with Ridley in the game, I will be seriously pissed at Nintendo if we don't get a space-station Metroid level with the 'Get Out Fast' music.

Smash Bros? Lots of computer game charaters beat each other up with the aim to kncok each other off the level - each time you get hit your % damage goes up and you fly a little bit further the higher it gets.

The 'special' moves all involve a single shift of the right thumbstick to do and there's tonnes of weapons (all ffrom computer games as well) to use and unlock. Plus there's a horribly addictive trophy collecting single player thing if the GC version is anything to go by.

If this is online it's an absolutely essential purchase, if it's off line only then it's only a AAA game.

In that case, you probably won't see the appeal of the game. I'm not exactly a fan of the fighting mechanics, but I love how the series is basically a homage to all things Nintendo.

    K

I dunno, the GC was my first Ninty console and I still loved the game for what it is. Very simple to get into, totally insane but slowly begins to make sense as you get used to it.

It simply HAS to be online.

Hmm, maybe it's a rental job first. My mate is a Ninty freak so will probably buy it anyway so I can try it out.

See if you can get the GC game cheap - you'll need a VC/Gamecube controller at some point anyway.

Said mate says he has a spare 3rd party controller but needs to smuggle it out from under the protective watch of his missus!

Hmmm - when i played this game, and for ages and ages - I thought it was a childish game that was essential "shit". It was only after getting into it deeply, and reading up on-line, and getting "good" that you could begin to see the true mastery and depth of this game.

Therefore it might be if you rent it, you will think its shit, and never realise what you have in your hands.

Meh, I hope it's not online.

They need to concentrate on other things, really.

Are you kidding/ it has to be the number 1 requirement. It HAS to be online. For nitendo to disregard online play for this generation of machines would be a huge slap in the face. And if they release brawl without it, its a huge step in that direction.

    @Dougs

To be honest I'm definitly going to be getting the Wii game anyway. So if you find that the GC version is still only around for silly money then send me an email and I could be persuaded to part with it for a more reasonably price/swap.

But online is boring and a bit shit.

Multiplayer fighting games are only good if the person you're playing with is next to you. Plus fighting games are never that good online because of lag.

I'd rather they didn't waste development time on crap online functions, and dedicated it towards adding extra features to the main game.

I cannot disagree more with all of this post. Except online figthing games tend to lag. But that is fixable.

"Online is boring and a bit shit" - omg - total insanity.

Get it right Nintendo - huge numbers of gamers are in their mid 20s and upwards - and they do NOT have time to go around their mates houses to play games (if indeed there was even room).

They are married , have kids, have responsibilities.

They do however , have time to go online in the evenings and hook up virtually though with their friends who are dotted all over the place. Its why XBLive is so huge. Put your games online, or you are fucked.

But with Nintendo's system, there's no chat or anything. The person you're playing against might as well be CPU controlled.

I just don't get online gaming. If the person I'm playing against isn't in the room with me, then it just feels like I'm playing against the computer, and if I'm playing with strangers then I usually end up getting thrashed constantly while people shout obscenities at me. Is that supposed to be fun? Because I really hope Nintendo don't get involved in it. The only time I enjoy online games, is when I play with friends, but it's just not nearly as fun if they're not in the room with you. It all feels rather hollow..

Halo 3 online co-op would entice me back online, but Smash Bros. certainly won't.

How many Vs games have you played where AI is as "good" as a Human opponent? None - thats how many!
There is no way "they may as well be CPU controlled" just because you cant talk to them! In fact when I am online, I NEVER have the mic turned on to "chat" unless its some kind of team game.
Plus you get stats, to see how you are doing vs others, and you can play with your friends. Yes they are not in the room with them, but at least you get your own damn screen.
Playing vs friends online (when using a mic) is better than "in the same room". Plus you can do it all the time, which you cant do if "offline".

As for you getting thrashed all the time, maybe now we are getting to the truth of why you dont like it :-)
