I understand the appeal is mainly for kids/families but am I right in thinking this has the 'Spongebob Effect' in that adults can get a lot out of it?
    You are right indeed.

It's a great game. Finished the story tonight. Got the bug in level 12 but thanks to the heads-up from darkmorgado I'd saved it before and backed the file up just in case. Tried again and it didn't happen. Now to explore Gotham properly!

can you do free roam before completing the game?

Sort of. You can't swap character in and out in free roam until you've completed the story, so you will be limited in what you can do till then.

Games cool but has some crippling and baffling flaws when played local co op. Batarang thing gets stuck on your own half of the screen for one. The v-sync on the 360 version makes for some astonishingly low frame rates all over.

Coupled with the same flaws in the last Lego Batman like the camera refusing to right itself to either player's view so you can see the weirdly placed platforms it makes for a largely frustrating experience.

It's still dead cool flying about as Superman though.

Flying around as Superman in LEGO Batman 2 to the Superman theme is pretty magic.

    I have to get this.

Whenever I try to summon the Superman theme in my head I always get Star Wars.

    It's great. Lego Batman 1 or 2? Doesn't matter they're both fun.

I had a Lego christmas it seems. Lego Batman 2, LOTR and the Harry Potter games all on sale before christmas. BOUGHT!

A bit further in now, really liking this. Platforming is a bit wonky in places. But its just got loads of charm, and gameplay, is pretty darn good as well.

    Yup, it's a LEGO game :)
A bit wonky in places and they are all done to a template but i find them great fun to play regardless. I've left my current crop installed so i can go back in now and then for 20 minutes of collecting as a break from other games.
