| I think I'm a good barometer for shit gamers, and I find the game nigh on impossible. If you suck like me, you'll get stuck during the Resi 2-ish bit. I admit it's because I'm rubbish, but easy games are easy for rubbish people, so I wouldn't count this as easy. I can get through HOTD 1&2 to the end, for comparison sake. |

Registered 13 years agoIt's fairly challenging: getting a one hit kill on many enemies is very difficult and the pacing is different to HotD as well.
Looking forward to getting some more time with it tonight. I only played the first part yesterday and got a B rank right out the gate. I'm going to focus on unlocking what I can to start by playing through everything on Easy and Normal and then worry about cheating to get the little Umbrellas.
Someone is selling this pre-owned on Amazon for £13 (not incl. P+P) or you can get it at The Hut for £14.99 new. I think it's worth a punt.
Look at it as a collection of three Resident Evil games with some new content and without having to plod around everywhere doing rubbish puzzles. Brilliant! -

Registered 16 years agoI love the puzzles though! And the exploration! It's missing some of the good bits.
It is a good enough game though, nothing is wrong with it except my own ineptness. -

Registered 20 years agoI really like RE:UC and HotD
.
However, when I've had mates play co-op RE:UC with me, I've picked up a vibe of underwhelmedness...
Don't know if they don't like light gun shooters, or just don't really dig the RE setting. Or perhaps playing co-op on a game for the first time with someone who has played the game loads isn't such a fun experience. -

Registered 16 years agoI didn't like it in co-op either. No idea why, it's just not as fun. And co-op QTEs can certainly fuck off and die. -

Yeah, the QTEs I don't understand -- it's a lightgun game FFS; if I cannot shoot to avoid getting killed then someone needs to remind the designers it's a lightgun game! -

Registered 16 years agoIt's the fact I play it with my mum, who is mostly a PS2 gamer. Any prompt comes up, it's half a year before she's wound the button.
Plus it doesn't make it clear it's going to happen to you both, and it doesn't make it clear which is for which person. There is no reason for them at all, apart from an idiotic design decision somewhere along the way.
It also doesn't say if you have to tap the button rapidly or just press it, because on occasion pressing doesn't work - I only know because I just told my mum to go go the A button regardless of prompt, and I'd go for the B trigger. As luck would have it, I was right and we both hit them - I even heard the buttons click as they hit. It didn't count them though, and I haven't played since.
Apart from that though, it's a nice solid shooter, especially for those of us that actually enjoy the series story. -

Registered 14 years agoI thought this game was a bit piss, TBH, especially once you get one or two weapons fully powered up.
Not as much emphasis on reactions as must shooters, careful shot placement is more important.
And you can always fuck with the difficulty level. -

Registered 13 years agoDude, you play this with your mother? How old are the two of you? Agreed on the QTEs; I generally press the button madly until it registers because I find the single press doesn't cut it (just like typing sync sync sync at the ok prompt on a Solaris server -- except this is necessary).
I think I spent too much time going for new weapons instead of upgrading them as I went along, so I'm going to focus on maxing out the stock handgun first and see how that goes. i do like the precision aspect as a counterpoint to Wild West Guns, the Wii Play duck hunt game or Ghost Squad. -

Registered 14 years agoSingle button press works fine for me. The only thing that annoys me is the fact that when you press the wrong button, you fail instantly; I'd rather that the small time-limit is the only enemy in these QTE's.
Also, is it only me that thinks rocket launchers aren't nearly as powerful as they should be? Even when fully powered up, a magnum is the far better choice. The handcannon makes things a breeze against bosses. -

Registered 13 years agoD'Oh, I cannot upgrade the basic weapon (guess that would make the game too easy, it having unlimited ammo and all).
Finished the RE0 bits yesterday with a B overall and all but 5 of the notes. Not bad.
Now on to RE1 -- the playable version, that is (controversy!).
This game is so much better without the nunchuk; I think if I had realised that alone I might not have sold it originally. -

Registered 16 years agoIt is definitely harder than Overkill. The hardest part in Overkill was the first boss on your very first run, after that it just became easy. Never boring though, the difficulty comes from keeping the multiplier up incl. the golden brains.
UC was quite a challenge I think, but it does get a bit easier once you upgrade the weapons. -
Is it that bad that I pay my eleven year old son to defeat the bosses for me? I'd throw the fecking thing through the window otherwise... -
I'll do it for less.
