Just finished it, not sure I liked the last episode, bar the final ending. I preferred him dying, seemed more fitting, although I get the cheating the system/ultimate puzzle bit. Some cracking episodes leading up to the end though. Will miss him, was like a comfortable pair of (occasionally crazy) shoes.

It's the only ending that could work given the fact it is a homage to Sherlock Holmes. He basically had to come back from the dead at the end.

That's true enough, fair point, tis the series in a nutshell. Still, I have probably wouldn't have got it had I not seen the BBC Sherlock the other month, despite the sledgehammer!

Finally watched season 7 and 8 of this after a long break, loved it all.

Good end as well.
