It's not final fantasy like people expect. I think it looks ok, but anyone wanting final fantasy like it always was will be disappointed. -

Registered 17 years agoIf you want turn-based 2D Final Fantasy like it always was, Final Fantasy IV The After Years and Final Fantasy Legends are pretty cool; though obviously they don't have the boom-bang you'd expect from a console release, I don't think who want that old school want that either, so *shrug*.
If people want early PlayStation-era Final Fantasy with all that entails, well, maybe Square Enix has some good plan in motion for finally getting Final Fantasy Type Zero localized for you guys.
For all the rest of us who embrace change and can accept a wide variety of them, bring on Final Fantasy XV! BANZAI! -

Registered 13 years agoI just don't want a bloody hack and slash action game from Final Fantasy. It's anathema to me. I want to be able to take things at my own pace, not be shuffled through set piece after set piece after set piece chaining together button-mashing combos in between endless overlong cutscenes 
I was really hoping XV would be a return to form in terms of its focus, but if anything it looks like they have all but abandoned the JRPG genre in favour of a real-time action game. I hope I'm wrong, but that trailer did nothing to make me think they'd learned the lessons from XIII.

To be fair, apart from the shit characters, they learnt their lesson in 13-2.
Who are they trying to appeal to in this game? If it's massively different, then why use the FF brand, if it's the same, then why suggest otherwise in the trailer? -

Registered 9 years agoCertainly looks good, although I wish they'd go back to being able to control everyone in your party instead of this obsession that seems to pervade all JRPGs now where you control one character and hope the AI isn't fucking terrible (e.g. Ni No Kuni, where unfortunately the AI is fucking terrible) -

Registered 11 years agoFinal Fantasy XV definitely looks a like a more action orientated FF game. Perhaps a bit too much action imo. Gameplay has more in common with an action adventure game than an RPG.
Noctis zero shifting all over the place looks like something out of Ninja Gaiden.

As far as I'm concerned, FF games nowadays are completely different to how they used to be. If I want a classic fix of JRPGs then I'll go elsewhere, but so long as FFXV is good (and XIII was not) then I don't really care what they call it. -

Registered 14 years agoLiking the Kingdom Hearts style combat, especially the combo moves with the other characters used to take down the Iron Giant. The Behemoth looks absolutely badass and I wonder how the summons are going to work, seeing Leviathan at the end there? -

Registered 11 years agoI just watched that battle gameplay for the first time. Holy crap that looks great! My first and only experience so far of any Final Fantasy was FFXIII and I actually really liked it. The main problem I had was not being able to move my character during battles as it led to quite a few annoying, one-hit deaths. This looks to fix that about 10 times over. I do hope that there's quite a lot of exploration and it's not too action heavy but even if not, I think I'll really enjoy this! -

The gameplay just looks amazing and I really like where it looks like the story is going with the city theme. Have to say this was honestly my game of E3 and I don't consider myself a mega Final Fantasy fan. -
