Not sure about the S3 finale, it makes a nice mess of things which opens up interesting possibilities for season 4.

The previous two finales helped raise previous episodes in their respective seasons as well as providing a cliffhanger. This one though did little to justify events in previous episodes (Sagittarians, Felix stabbing Baltar etc.) and felt more like and episode with a teaser trailer attached.

Apparently the saggitaron storyline was deleted at the last minutes.

Scenes from previous episodes also had to be alterred pretty late for this.

There was supposedly a massacre on New Caprica, but they changed their minds.

    No. Guts.

I am the only one on quite a few forums that is not enthralled by this finale. Everyone else seems tomthink it is the best thing since sliced bread. or Firefly.

I thought it was fantastic. Good to see Hendrix crossing the 'verse :)

I presumed from the minute Starbuck was killed off that she'd be back as a Cyclon, but I'm not sure if that was the implication of the ending...

Oh and if Tyrell is a cyclon doesn't that make his and kalie's baby another miracle child?

£5 bet that Gaius has a shaved head in season 4.

Well that was fucking great! I was starting to think it was going to go out with a bit of a flat ending this season but I was wrong...

Everyone had assumed she was one of the final five, looks more likely she is a Seraph, or something to do with them anyway.

Why can I never spell Cylon right? :(

Overall, despite some promising and memorable episodes, I don't think Season 3 has really delivered on its potential. Probably not helped by the writers changing direction seemingly on a whim. :)

What it has achieved, however, is providing an incredible foundation for the fourth season where I hope they can take the series out with a bang. I don't think it has the legs to go for a fifth without getting stupidly watered down.

Where does all this mention of Seraphs come from? Either I wasn't concentrating, or they haven't been mentioned at all (by name anyway) all season...

They were an element of the original 70's series, so it stands to reason that they'll be putting in an appearance in the new series sooner or later.

Well in the original series, it sort of turns out that the seraphs and the...uhm... evil seraphs are having some kind of war and are using the colonials and the cylons as pawns.

The cylons were manipulated into attacking the colonials by the evil seraphs and the good seraphs tried to help out the colonials by showing them the way to earth. Patrick McNee played count Iblis, one of the evil ones.

If they do something like that there is a chance that season 4 will be absolutely brilliant.

There is, however a chance that it will suck and appear pretty stupid, sort of like the Ori storyline on stargate (not that it sucked in the context of stargate, but it would be lame in the galactica universe).

    Aliens?

    Don't be daft.

While there may be thousands of planets with life in this galaxy at the moment, the odds of us being around at the same time as another intelligent species in a single galaxy is probably close to nil.

Ok, I really cannot be arsed downloading and looking at all the fillers - which episodes, from the shitty one where yer man and his wife get trapped in an airlock, do I need to get in order to understand the finale?

    last 3.

Maybe even just the last two.

The last three actually have a real person on there. Romo is not as "simple" as the rest.

Rubbish 19 episodes? None of them were *bad*...

Episodes 1 (Occupation) through to 5 (Collaborators) = Fracking Awesome
Episodes 6 (Torn) through to 7 (A Measure of Salvation) = Very Good
    Episode 8 (Hero) = Average
Episode 9 (Unfinished Business) to 10 (The Passage) = Good
Episode 11 (The Eye of Jupiter) to 13 (Taking a Break From All Your Worries) = Excellent
Episode 14 (The Woman King) to 15 (A Day in the Life) = Average
Episode 16 (Dirty Hands) = Quite Good
Episode 17 (Maelstrom) to 20 (Crossroads Part 2) = Fracking Awesome

There were four episodes in series 3 which didn't quite live up to the standard we usually see, but they weren't bad by any measure.

Somebody is very tolerant of bad BSG then, I thought the vast majority of S3 really wasn't up to much.

I can't say I was too impressed by the finale either. I do wonder where the show that started so well has gone?

It's clear that different people are watching BSG for different reasons. Thus, when I regard this season as the best yet, others will be disappointed at the downward spiral of quality.

    Opinions, eh. /shrugs

    I guess so.

I am very much a "plot" person, when i read a book i often skim read descriptions etc, and can get to the end of a book and not know what the main character is supposed to look like!

I wasn't a big fan of all the episodes where NOTHING at all happened with the plot, the ones where they were just trying to give you insight into x y or z character - i'm simply not interested, and there were about 15 of them!

horses for courses and all that.

I agree. After a fantastic start with the rescue from new Caprica, the series began to creep up its own arse. Hopefully the last season picks up better, but I'm not pining for it like I would usually be for past seasons.

Ratings have been quite shit so hopefully he wraps everything up next season.

    Don't want another Firefly!
