I was having a look at the Max Payne and Max Payne 2 reviews, for nostalgia's sake, and noticed a game page for Max Payne 3. What's going on here? Is there really a Max Payne 3 in development right now? Surely not. Didn't Max Payne 2 close with "The End"? The Max Payne games are some of my favourite and most memorable experiences ever in gaming. Such stylishness and clever plotting I have rarely seen in a videogame. And I felt that they conclusively wrapped up the saga between themselves nicely. Max Payne 3 just sounds like milking, to me. I mean, where else is there for Max Payne to go in his life, assuming they don't just write a new mystery for him to solve? And if they do write another mystery, where does the milking end? Max Payne 12? Personally, I think Remedy should just stick to delivering on their Alan Wake promises, and leave Max Payne firmly where he belongs. In the past. And a glorious past at that. |

Registered 15 years agoWow, this thread sure got hijacked! Anyway, dragging it kicking and screaming back on track, what's the story with Max Payne 3? I haven't heard nowt about it in the mainstream press. I'm hoping that EG have just got their facts bent out of shape on this one..... -

Remedy isn't making it. -
I'd love to see a new MP game at some point in the future, to be honest. I am not all that concerned about how the stories wrap up or don't wrap up (though I see your point), I'd simply like to play another MP game. .gif)
It's good that there's Alan Wake for now, though, I don't like it if developers get caught in a dead end of having to make sequel after sequel after sequel in the same franchise once they've had a hit.
And no, I don't think MP3 is in devlopment. Never heard anything about it.
edit:
Or maybe there is. Though if it's true that Remedy aren't making it, I am not so sure myself that I want another one...

Max Payne 3 was anounced a long time ago, shortly after Max Payne 2 as released, but it wasn't Remedy being it and since then nothing more was heard from it, so I'll file it under DNF... -

I'd just be happy to settle for Stranglehold, to be honest. Maybe I'm wierd, but I love it when the integrity of a series is upheld. It cheapens the overall experience when it gets milked for all its worth. At present, the Max Payne story is neat, and wrapped up. I'd hate to see the guy become a running joke, like what the Tony Hawk games have become.

Normally I would agree. But when Max Payne 2 closes with "The End", and the story seems to all but resolve itself.....well.....
