    Hehe.

Sounds (and looks) excellent, and it's only £16 or so on PA so I think I might go for it.

Trailer for Professor Layton & The Mystery Village.

    Wait... Wasn't it "town" before?

I really hope they translate this and release it in Europe or America.

It's all a matter of translation AFAIK. Some places call it "Mystery Town", others "Mysterious Village" or variations on the same theme...

My money's on "Mysterious Town". If a Western release is ever announced. And, despite the odd "edutainment" elements of the game, I have never wished for a DS release as much as this one...

I take it that they've made some anime for the trailers and adverts and that the DS won't have lots of anime cutscenes or is it a game based on an anime series?

Hmm, not aware of any anime series and IMDB throws up nothing. Then again, the DS carts have enough space to have compressed anime on there. Looks a very high spec title!

Full Metal Alchemist and a few other DS titles now are starting to include more video on them (before levels, cutscenes etc.), so I wouldn't be surprised if the scenes shown in that youtube vid were anime cutscenes in the game itself.

Bet they don't translate it now. :(

The Japanese title uses the word for town, but I don't think there's an official English title yet.

    /dribble

    /gibber

I don't usually go for this type of game, but I'm looking forward to this a lot. I've said that about DS games in the past, though.

Is there any chance at all of this having an English option like the Japanese Phoenix Wright games do?

Sounds good, though it may be a bit too much of a puzzlefest for me.

    from cubed3:

In addition to this, Level 5 has announced that the Professor Leighton adventure/puzzle games will actually be formed into a trilogy, with the second game in the series being subtitled 'Pandora's Box'. It will be set on a train this time and features connectivity with the first game via passwords.

    OMG indeed. :D

Interesting, hopefully the stories will be largely self contained, though.

    Hm, why?

Anyway, the password system will likely allow for your actions in in earlier part to influence things in a later part. I'd find that pretty exciting, TBH.

Edutainment? Puzzles involving the recognition of shapes?

Um, sounds like an actual proper kid's game.

The playable flash demo fills me with hope. It looks more like a Big Brain Academy for grownups.

Either your Japanese is fluent or I don't know what the hell you are doing. If this has an English option and I have no preorder, I need to hurt myself.

My Japanese isn't bad. Fluent would be a bit of a stretch as my speaking and writing sure as heck isn't, but listening and especially reading is fine.

Then I'll hope for a few comments on the game, soon. :)

    Yepyep.

I'll give you a review now:

Best DS game ever, by a factor of 2.

    4/10.

    ;)

That translates into a 12/10 sane-people-score. Sounds ok to me. :)

    My copy is still in the post. ;_;

It was sent on the 21st of Feb from yesasia, and another order that I had sent out on the same day arrived a couple of days ago, so I'm getting a little worried.
