Registered 13 years agoThere's a couple of options to get a fair priced Professor Layton:
1. Call HMV and reserve one at one of their London stores.
2.Buy the German version. It's exactly the same game as the English one as they both have five languages programmed into them.
3. Order it at a major retailer's website and hope they get stock in before christmas. -

It's a pretty good game and 55 quid is absolutely fucking insane.

My wife just sold her copy on e-bay for £55 quide, cost her £23 in Sainsburys. As you can imagine she's quite chuffed.
It's an amazing game but 55 quid is mental.

It is indeed good but the reason it's selling is because it has appealing cartoony graphics, English voices and puzzles. The fact that it's actually a good 'game' as we gamers define the term is by the by.

I got lucky and got in with Play before they ran out.
What is it with this game? Why the high demand? Are more adults buying it or what?
It's cos it's really good.
The DS thrives on it's puzzle games sold to the female, pensioner and casual gaming markets that have, with just cause, bought into the DS format as a portable puzzling device. -

Tried. They won't hold any back.
My sister works in London and has been checking the Oxford Street HMV regularly. Apparently they had some copies in the other day, but again, they were sold instantly, and people have been buying in bulk to sell on ebay. They've limited it to one per customer now. -

It's because adventure games have risen up to take over the world again!
/wishes
Plus, it's a family friendly game that is interesting and educational. And on the DS. And has one of those Nintendo adverts. -

Registered 20 years agoIt's official - this is the new Brain training.
The mania for it is just...breathtaking. I ended up grabbing my mum a copy because she kept going on about it, I had no idea that "non gamers" had such a hard on for this.
The sequel needs a quick western release, as does the third - which just looks stunning. -

Be careful it is not a copy. 2 EGers have bought from HK and have had this problem. -

Registered 14 years agoweirdly enough just got this in the post, it's shrink wrapped so don't really want to open it if i don't have to (for a present), any telltale signs of knowing if it's a fake or not?
it's the American version
edit: okay, after checking out this handy little guide
http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/DS/feature.asp?c=2191
it seemed to be okay, still planned to test it out tonight (screw the shrink wrap)
but then at close inspection of the manual and the back of the box it seems that every picture showing the game has a Gamespot watermark on it...pretty damn sure that means it's a fake! -

Registered 16 years agoI saw some in stock last night at the Gamestation on New Street in Birmingham. £44.99 is the price. Incredible.
Then again I find it incredible that Mario Kart was sat next to it at £29.99. How comes neither Nintendo software or hardware ever comes down in price, it's a 3 year old game! -

You can never be sure anymore.gif)
Seriously though, yeah I would take that as highly suspicious. Does the cover look like it's been printed out of normal paper or photocopied? That should set a few alarms ringing. -

Registered 14 years agohehe yeah, forgot about that!
but everything else looks legit, feels legit...if it is a fake it's a bloody good one. kinda tempted (if it works) to keep quiet about it, really should message the seller to see if i can get my money back but if he wants the game game i won't bother, was only a tenner..but it's not the point. Slightly torn!
Anyone else got a fake DS cart that's worked perfectly fine? -

I'm still after the game, but I'm not paying over the odds for it. I'll just wait 'til after Christmas.
