Happy crimbo Cid, how about £30 all in, I don't think that is taking the piss ?

I have posted before about my Professor Layton Ds game.
I have 3 brand new, still completly sealed uk editions
surplus to my needs, I can return to Amazon but would rather sale on here. With that in mind I'm offering for the new price of £30 each and I will cover 1st class postage.
Please pm before Mon if interested, I still want a swap with Left4dead or COD 5 if you have either of those

That's a fair price, but I have the game now. My mum picked up the last copy in Tesco on Christmas Eve. 8)

    Hi,

I bought Professor Layton for the DS from HK. It works ok except I don't have the option to open games I've saved previously. Am I missing something or have I been sold a duff?

    Charley :-)

There should be a "Continue" option when you boot up the game.

That's the problem... there is only 'new game' option. :-)

Are you saving your game? It's on the top right touch screen menu IIRC. The game only autosaves when you complete a chapter.

    Hi,

Yes, I save it via his trunk and it confirms it has saved the data. The only way then to exit is to turn it off via the power switch. When I turn it on I can only start a new game. No bonus or continue options. this makes for tedious puzzle-solving! (or solving the entire game in one-sitting, armed with caffeine drinks)

I'm wondering if it a very good fake with a glitch since it's from HK as other people's were.

Or maybe I'm doing something wrong?!

Doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong to be honest... might be a fake, might just be buggered. It's a shame anyway - it's a great game.

I almost gave up hope of finding this game, I asked in my local Asda and the nice bloke said he thinks they have one that he hid for someone that wanted it over xmas, they didn't come and get it so he let me have it!!

    Sweet!

    £24.18 by the whey.

I was actually a tiny bit disappointed with this. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but definitely not as good as I was led to believe.

I wasn't too keen on some of the "trick" puzzles. You know, ones where you're over-thinking it. Some made me grin, others made me groan. The solution to the laziest man in the world, for example, was absolute horse shite.

That said, the art style and animation is very nice. The village has a very warm feeling to it, and while I wasn't that bothered about the storyline until near the end, it was definitely a good idea to build the game around an adventure as opposed to just lumbing all those puzzles together.

I think I enjoyed the liquid/beaker problems the most.

Well this sums up my feelings about the game pretty well.

I thought it was great fun. Not sure I understand the complaints - if you don't want to do puzzles, why play it?
  • Deleted user 26 January 2009 12:23:17
    ^^They are opinions, not complaints.

Sounds like you've been sold a second-hand copy. If they sold you it as a new game then go back in, tell them to sort it out and compensate you and tell them that if they try and pass second-hand goods off as new again you'll take them to trading standards.

Oh, didn't realise it was also called this, I thought it was Curious Village. Anyway, awesome game. When's the next one out?

In 1000 years by the looks of things. Not even out in the US yet - they've been waiting for almost a year as well...

Someone seriously needs to ask Nintendo politely to get Level 5 to start the translation work for the other 2 games. Otherwise, we'll have forgotten by then...

While I'm here, congratulations to Layton for the BAFTA!
  • Deleted user 11 March 2009 06:56:57
They will only release the other ones when the first one stops selling.
  • Deleted user 11 March 2009 09:01:38
Games like Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton aren't just roster updates with a few gameplay tweaks. They have new stories, new characters, new puzzles and new areas to explore. There's a great deal of difference.

I don't think I'll get another Prof Layton game. The puzzles were, by and large, pretty easy, the plot I guessed the second Simon was "murdered" and there's zero replayability. 10 hours play for £30 seems steep.
