    Link

For now download the Yahoo version and then open the executable in WinRAR -- extract the "IE7-setup.exe" and run it. This installs it without branding.

Extracted the files to a separate folder, deleted the branding.cab and yahoo toolbar setup files there you go. IE7.

    "The horror, the horror."

MS haven't made the file available to stop the auto load of this yet have they? I know I need that for work because it will bollocks up a lot of web based apps.

Oh fuck, it's the attack of the blurry fonts again! How do I switch that off again? Had the same problem in the beta, I think Whizzo helped me out at the time.

ClearType, it's in display properties, appearance, effects, then smooth edges, put it to standard or off and it might sort it.

ClearType really is the suck on a lot of monitors, I hate it!

It's supposed to be the other way around but your guess is as good as mine why it can be so sucky on some displays (of whatever technology) and fine on others.

The tuner applet is available to download here.

Cheers, but it wasn't even enabled there. Hohum.

For some reason on my TFT with cleartype enabled white text gets a redish tint at the top of each letter. Without cleartype its all properly white.

It's turned off in the display options and with the help of the powertoy, but it's still a blurry mess. Gah.

Similar experience to me, it can make text have some very strange discolouration at times, I leave it off!

edit: hmm not sure what's happened there then? Did you install IE7 and then it started happening? If so you can uninstall it and see if it goes back.

It's ok in all other applications.

Found this in the help of IE7 (to turn it off). That did the trick.

In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

Click the Advanced tab, scroll to the Multimedia section, clear the Always use Clear Type for HTML check box, and then click OK.

    edit:

Which is probably what Furbs tried to tell me in the first place, d'oh. :)

Anybody else seeing some strange css behaviour with the left panel on EG?

Icons are in the wrong place and the rounded borders too.
Also the comments pop-up doesn't display properly.

    Anybody?

Ah didn't realise MS would be dumb enough to have a IE specific setting!

EG has been fucked in IE7 ever since the first beta of it, I'm surprised it still is though.

The thing to remember about IE7 is that this is a critical update, if you've got autoupdates switched on and you've not installed the file linked earlier to stop it autoupdating IE, you will get this when it hits Windows Update.

MS sent us an email on how to make our website IE7 compatible and we replied and asked them to make their browser web standards compatible... I don't think they replied.

Anyway, I guess we better make some changes before everyone gets the new browser...

I hear that IE7 requires all forums to have a really good search engine.
