Yes, I have attempted to search the many threads that address HDTV.

No, I didn't have any luck.

    \o/

Now that's out of the way, here's my query. Having just flogged my old 28" JVC CRT that was in the 2nd bedroom at our new place (FAR too big for the room), I'm looking to replace it with an HD ready LCD around 23" in size.

As I've got a Samsung 32" R74 downstairs, I was going to go for the equivalent model in that range but the internal speakers are tinny shite. I've been barred from setting up surround sound in the bedroom/study (understandable really), so I'm looking for recommendations for a set with decent internal sound quality.

The TV will mainly be used for telly watching and Xbox/GC/PS2 gaming, so a secondary requirement is that the set displays standard def signals reasonably well.

Any advice gratefully received, before I get lost in AVforums.com

    Most flatscreens have godawful sound.

Even my 26" sammy is hooked up to a 5.1 system partly because of this.

You get better sounds from CRT TVs, due to the resonance of tha casing etc. But I'm afraid I am of no use here as you don't want a CRT! Sorry.

I have a 32" Tosh, and all of the range has better than average sound - they do smaller sets, may be worth a try.

Just put up a set of Magnepan MMGWs and she'll never even know you've got a surround set there. :D
