Just kidding. It's a good unbiased review of the system. Their opinion seems to be that the PS3 hardware is fairly impressive, but needs improvement on the software, games and online side of things, although it has a lot of potential to be a great system.

Is it just me, or does that look like a man's hand? With red nail varnish? :-o

That's a pretty fair review, transvestitism aside. I do wonder why he wants the machine to reset when he ejects the disc, though. What if you just wanted to clean it? Or if you needed to swap the disc on a multi-disc game, or something? None of the Playstations have reset when you open the disc tray, I'm perplexed as to why it's suddenly an issue now.

Does the 360 reset when you eject the disc? How would it handle multi-disc games?

IIRC, it just jumps back to the menu. Could probably be patched if/when multi-disc releases start to arrive.

It might be up to the game itself. I've had Xbox games which reset as soon as you touch the eject buttons and others which sit there waiting for the disk to be put back in.

Blue Dragon is on 3 DVDs.

    3 DVDs?

Are they all game disks though? If its yet another MS 'limited' edition you can expect bonus disks etc. I wasn't expecting the DVD-9 envelope to be pushed quite so soon.

I thought the fanboys had pretty much accpeted that multiple discs would be a feature of the 360. They were arguing instead that its not that big a deal if you consider the benefits of dvd, ie, released earlier, cheaper, easier to manufacture, not a worry of it being 'beaten' in a war etc.

Excellent. Perhaps all the 'Blu-ray is teh ghey' idiocy can finally be dumped in a shallow grave at the nearest convenient cess pit.

Quite enjoyed that, despite some negativity, I'm genuinely quite excited....

Not that I'll be buying one, but still.

So will all those "who wants stupid disc-filling cut-scenes anyway" guys now be reversing course? Oh good!

Yes, the sane ones did but there were others who couldn't understand why a Blu-Ray drive might be useful.

After all, Oblivion fit on a single DVD.

    /chuckles

It was inevitable, really. Some 360 developers were worried from the start, PC games start to appear on more than one DVD, and history tells us the same.

    Feanor confessed:
I had to swap discs on the GameCube (REmake, RE 4).
Unless you mistake the reset and eject button...

    No I just installed this.

Took three hours, the installer is borked and keeps asking for Disk 1 every so often.
What a great proponent of a multi-disc game. I bet it's way more fun than Gears.

Doesn't seem like that much fucking around to me. You install it and set it up, then it appears every time you switch the machine on. If you want to play games instead, you hold the power switch for five seconds and boots the PS3 OS instead.

Yes. Boot the PS3 OS and delete it using the same menus you used to install it.

I'm pretty sure Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory did it. It was on a YOU'RE DEAD, M*TH*ER F***ER screen with Retry, Load etc.

I've been saying for months that Sony can't do software. Anyone that ever used Sonic Stage or Connect music store knew this.

Ms can do software. What most people don't realise is that the reason Windows is buggy is because Ms best programmers aren't on it. They are on the projects where Ms doesn't have 90+% market share.

As for the games, Ms are in a position where they will spend almost any amount to get games exclusive where as Sony are approaching Nintendo's level of arrogance with N64 where they thought nobody could take them down and that they are the games industry etc... ....

Overall they can recover but it has to be fast. First impressions are important and if casuals start buying a lacklustre PS3 then word will spread fast that it isn't as good as 360 with regard to software. Basically Sony need to hire good programmers, fast.

Sonic Stage really is shockingly bad.
