Bioshock will run on XP fine, don't worry about that one :)

Games for windows is really a brand/standard, like widescreen support for pc games and streamlined packaging, and some extra funding/support from microsoft.

Slighty off topic, doubt CoD4 will be GFW as apparently Microsoft rang them up about cross platform play, and IW told them no chance, and MS never rang back :)

    /hopes for a timely death of GFW-Live

It has always been vista only the moment ms became publisher. They only release games on the 360 or GfW (vista). So this is only available on GfW and the 360 as well.

Games for Windows hasn't got anything to do with Vista.

But Alan Wake has been "Vista only" for ages, yes.

GfW features xbl stuff right? They are only supported under vista. The entire initiative is there to push vista sales.

Maybe it's just the mgs published GfW things that are vista only. Dunno.

I've got about 10-12 "Games for Windows" here, from Microsoft as well as other publishers, which all have the "Games for Windows" label.

You're confusing "Games for Windows Live" (the Vista-exclusive multiplayer service) with the "Games for Windows" label (a label that any game can get that fulfills certain standards, like widescreen resolution support).

GFW and GFW-Live are two different things. Only two titles support that, both for vista by microsoft. Remember GFW =! vista. GFW-Live = vista.

The great and wise UL got there first.

Crysis and Bioshock will work on XP.

I haven't heard that Dragon Age will be Vista only, are you sure? I have Alan Wake down as the only worthwhile Vista-exclusive game at the moment.

I remember reading somewhere that its DX 10 only so that kinda nails it down to Vista only territory. Plus there is the fact that it won't come out till late 2008 by which point Vista would be a bit more established and have a larger installed base to consider.

Hell if it was the only Vista exclusive game I would still upgrade just to play it.

    Bump. Any news on this?

I only bring it up because we've got to get some new exclusives to be excited about. There's a fair few forgotten ones out there, and this is going to be special, I'm certain.

Haven't heard anything on this for ages, which is a shame cos two years ago it was one on my most wanted list. Theres got to have been some problems with development for them to have not shown anything in so long, I thought it was originally mooted as a late 2007 game.

I doubt it. Remedy released Max Payne 2, a classy game, with barely ANY fanfare and suprised everyone all those years back. It just suddenly appeared on the shelves! In fact, the lack of buildup made it all the more better, imo.

They're more secretive in their approach than any other company.

Not a clue. I'm getting a bit worried about this to be honest. It's either going to emerge polished to perfection or just never come out.

Had zero interest in this til I just watched the trailer there now. Looks very King/Koontzy. Really fancy it now. Let's hope it loves up to the psychological side of things and doesn't turn out to be an action/shooter game.

Rubbishy preview I knickered off Neogaf.

Great news is that Alan doesn't seem to suffer from "cunt hair", something currently airing on the latest Nationwide advert.

But Max Payne and BioShock are the only two games to ever feature a story!
  • Deleted user 14 January 2008 23:57:46
It sounds like he's made a preview off a fucking press release. Virtually every sentence starts with a synonym of "Apparently".

That's not a lot of info. Is this game in trouble then?
  • Deleted user 28 January 2008 10:19:12
Has it got to the point where companies so overload us with info, if one stays schtum we automatically think it's in trouble?

Max Payne 2 had verrry little information in the run up to its release and was all the better for it.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but look at the source "interview":

    http://sithgamer.wordpress.com/2008/01/25/interview-with-robbie-bach/

    lawl

And while it is taking plausible 360 sales its important to notice that Nintendo has created a revolutionary device and Microsoft expected it to sell decent, and the system can afford to sell decent because its very similar to a childs toy.

If you're going to fake an interview, learn how to write and spell first.
