Right smack in the centre of Hyrule. And as you're in the south, north it is... :D

I was told I'd be needing the Hylian Shield for the bit in Death Mountain, but I can't seem to find it. All the shops in Kakariko Village are shut.

Whaaaa? But you get one really early on. It's part of the story to have to find a sword and shield.

EDIT: Also, how the hell am I supposed to get on a Goron to bounce off of him?

Weird. To get the shops to open I had to leave the town. Then immediately the mailman came with a letter telling me the shops are now open.

Shield, attack him while he's charging, then hop on top.

Ah thanks. I need more patience with these games sometimes.

How do I kill the last Twilight Insect in the Lake? I can get him on his back but I don't seem to be able to do anything else...

edit: I didn't get the Hyrulian Shield until after the Goron mines...

Use the wolf's B move-thing. Make sure you lock onto them all.

That one pissed me off too. Figured it out while watching Family Guy last night and had to switch the Wii on.

    Water Temple! GRRRR.

No shit. I'm on the 2nd phase of the boss now and I can't figure it out.

edit: that's kind of a lie actually, I know what to do, I just can't do it...
edit 2: It turns out I can do it.

And holy fuck this just got crazy good!!! :D

Jump the gap with the flower and then place it at the foot of the boulder?

+1 but I'm slightly further in than you.

I now have the Master sword and I've been playing for 27 hours and 48 minutes :) It's an incredible game. I can see myself putting in another 12 hours tomorrow...

I want to get back to Red Steel and Rayman too but it's just not goning to happen until Hyrule is saved.

GAH! This thread really is spoilertastic! I've had Zelda since Friday and have played it, oooh, about 2 hours in that time (it says about 7 on the counter but most of the time it was on 'pause' and yet the counter still ticks, clearly - I hate it when games do that). I am just about to enter the first dungeon.

People on here seem to progress in games VERY quickly. You guys must really put the hours in. When, exactly? I've not had chance to get back into Viva Pinata in over a fortnight (a good solid 15-20 hours put in on it though, in the first few days of having it); GoW doesn't often get much play (not even finished Act 2 yet and only played a dozen or so games online); I got FEAR but have had chance to play the first couple of levels or so. Bully arrived and I'm not past the first hour of play, for sure.

I clearly have an unfortunate addiction to buying/owning the best games as they come out, but I just don't have time to play one, let alone all of them, as well as have a job and a girlfriend. Some people here have wives, and children! How do you all game and live AND post here???

I'd discovered something cool last night, when you kill one of those nasty plants (not the ones that go loose when you cut them) if you unequip your sword real fast Link will put it back in a very cool way instead of the simple way.

... or you can circle them to make them dizzy and then hit their weakpoint, their backs, for the same effect.

Just spent about 1.5 hours lure fishing (which is much more fun as you have to reel in your catch with the nunchuck) at the fishing lake. I have filled the aquarium in the shop!

It's for sale in the shop in Kakariko Village but the shop was closed when I entered the mines and open when I came out. It wasn't a problem as I didn't let my wooden shield burn :)

I'm in the desert but I can't find my way into the dungeon there. Any clues?

    lol

It's not something you earn in the game, it's kind of a side mission. You could play through without ever knowing it's even there :)
