Registered 6 years agoI think the Wii ruined my experience, as i originally gave up after a couple of days as the controls pissed me off. And the world felt so dreary (in part due to jaggies) compared to other Zeldas. On the gamepad this game is a revelation proper controls and still loving the inventory on touchscreen.
So glad i bought the special edition

Registered 9 years agoI cannot believe how stunning this looks compared to the GC and Wii versions. Say what you like about remasters, but when they are Nintendo releases they are just that. I was worried after reading somewhere that they hadn't put in the same amount of effort with this as they did with WW, but boy, oh boy, that was a fib. Now, I know I am playing it with a HDMi cable rather than in SD on the GC or 480p on the Wii, but the difference is amazing. Only had three hours on it so far, but it is well worth it. -

Registered 14 years agoSunk 10 hours into this over the weekend. It's amazing how much better the game is with normal controls. I only got a short way on the original. I really hope they do a remake of skyward sword with controller support one day, as I had to put that down after a while due to the shit motion controls. I doubt it would happen though as it was designed with motion controls from the start. We can all dream though -

Registered 9 years ago@spindle9988 Yeah mate, I never got past the first five hours of Skyward Sword because of the controls. Tried three times and even have it with me at my flat in case I want to go for fourth time lucky although sensibly I've pretty much given that up!
This meanwhile is an absolute delight. I'm now at, and I doubt this is much of a spoiler but Kakariko Village, about to clear up the Twilight goons. So not hugely far in (5-6 hours or so), but raring to get back on it tonight. -

I think this is why I'll give Zelda Wii U a miss and wait for the rumoured NX version.

Registered 14 years agoSorry I didn't really explain myself properly. All I meant to say was because of the very high quality remaster, I'm tempted to just wait for the NX version of the new Zelda which I presume will be the ultimate version of the title. -

Registered 16 years agoI played the opening hour, suspended my play by pressing the home button. Came back later to save the game, my file is now at the 6 hour mark. Not a complaint or anything, just thought it was odd it didn't really suspend the game like normal.
My daily log still has it at 58 minutes! -
Ok, got to the first bit I wasn't keen on. The find the motes of light in hyrule can fuck off. I have two left and just don't know where they are
-
Played this up until the start of the first temple. Think they have done a great job so far. -

yeah, i read there was less in this version. i dont remember this bit from the original game so the good must outweigh the tears .gif)
skyward sword on the other hand, i remember hating the collect the light bits -

Registered 12 years agoYes, I imagine you've blocked it from your memory
I do think those parts are the worst parts of the game. In Skyward Sword, I kind of hated that the concept returned, but quite enjoyed the challenge of them.
The worst part of Skyward Sword was the tadtones *shudder* -
ha, tadtones... another thing i have blocked from my memory.
I actually really liked skyward sword but between the really tedious moments such as tadtones and the tears of light remix and the constant need to take to the skys to move from area to area it really is the weakest zelda for me

Registered 12 years agoBEHOLD.
Worst thing I've ever done in a Zelda game.
I loved flying about on my Loftwing. I did really like Skyward, but it was way too long. They managed to get a lot of use out of the environments they had - fair play, they changed them up a fair bit each time, like Faron Woods being flooded, but if it isn't fun to go back through them, like the example above, then what's the point, other than padding the game out.
It could have been half as long and twice as good. -

Registered 14 years agoI am also looking for lights in hyrule. This is the furthest I've ever been as I gave up by this point on the wii version -

Registered 12 years agoI must be in the world's smallest minority, but I like the tears of light bits, and the stealthy tears of light bits in Skyward Sword. I even *whispers* liked the tadtones bit...
I think with the tears of light in Twilight Princess, I feel like the actual collecting of the tears is really easy; you just look at the map and see where they are. It's actually a secondary objective, with the main point of them being to explore each new area you're presented with. You're never left lost at all, because the map shows you where everything is.
I enjoy the Skyward Sword equivalent for the exact opposite reason; these bits are a real challenge! You really have to try your hardest to follow the rules and navigate the area really carefully, and remember the layout and position of the orbs using the 'hints' you get. Plus, it's a really clever way of working stealth into a Zelda context; better than the stealth bit in Wind Waker by miles.
And the tadtones? Well, it doesn't last long, the music is lovely, the forest looks amazing flooded and it's just very relaxing. I liked how it was a change from the norm. -
@JoeGBallad my map is not showing me the locations in hyrule -
no motion controls in wii u version -

Registered 14 years agoI should note that I gave up on the wii version due to wankers cramp from waving my arms about, not the tears of light -

Registered 12 years ago@Graxlar There are white dots on the mini-map showing each bug/tear location. You can zoom in with the magnifying glass for a better look. The only exception is during the third and final bug hunt: there's a bug missing off the map at first, but you'll see why when you come to it. -

Good news hearing that might pick it up now. The waving about on the original wii version put me off. -
Played an hours worth this afternoon. I feel old, i can remember watching the gamespot wii launch game sessions they had and watching the opening to the game. How time flies.
My memory is gone to shit though, feels like a new game. Just picked up the the lantern.
Enjoying it, especially the music. /didn't realise i wanted the cd until now.
