Yeah I'm pleased with that too. But seeing the Sonic scores, I would take everything now with a hefty dose of salt.

But did you play the demo of Lost Planet?
Really looking forward to that one \o/

Definitely they have lost credibility with a 30/40 for Sonic. That game is pure shite.

I'm a bit surprised. I think it looks like a really nice game, but it also seems like it is pretty much focused on a western audience.

29/30 out of 40 from Famitsu is pretty much the same as 'meh'. Take 30 as 'average', and anything below that as 'bad'.

Which makes the Motorstorm score a little worrying for Sony, no?

Well done to Capcom. Again. :-)

I wonder a bit about the Madden score. Is really a mediocre game or is it just a game not suited for the Japanese market. I mean as I understand it it is a usually a solid product, if you are into that kind of thing.

hmmm you'd think that but when I was playing the online demo there were a lot of Japanese playing it. Strange one indeed.
Well a few mechs always helps too I guess :)

Yes - one wonders why the internet choses this specific magazine to scrutinize every week, when the magazine's ratings are so bizzare!

Whenever they've been posted to an Internet forum without the caveat that they're based off four 50-word reviews in a magazine where every word that's written is dictated by a PR person, I guess :)

I care because I harbor an irrational hatred against Japan and want to confirm that the Japanese are always wrong.

Therefor the Lost Planets score scares and confuses me.

Don't see what you guys see in Lost Planet though and to tell the truth I can't understand the inflated scores that Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops seem to be getting everywhere (horrible controls).
I should expect so, with the lack of a second analog stick!

Lost Planet seems like a solid and good looking shooter. Nothing more, nothing less. It's enough to make me interested in it.

The latter, probably. The only reason I play Madden is because I grew up with it on the megadrive, not because I liked American Football. With all the new shit they have added over the years, i would find it absolutely impenetrable if I came to it cold.

Even now, the only person who will play me at it is my brother, who is one of those freaks who likes rugby for girls.

On a side note, the Sonic Score is quite worrying. You can forgive one random 9/10, but when a whole panel give it a good score, you start to worry about payola....

Now now, Syphon Filter handles the controls very well actually.
Yes, I suppose Syphon Filter is a good exception!

    @Psychotext
I'll let you know, I'm going to get it tomorrow. I really hope its decent, 30 is ok for Famitsu, and just one of the reviewers wasn't that keen.
