If you take Higgins and White, add them up and divide by 2 and you get 2 normal people.

I dunno whats more shocking, the state of Higgins or that Jimmy White walks about in broad daylight with the top of his lead looking like that.

Wasn't Jimmy an advocate of the London Centre of Trichology or whatever it was called?

They are all looking pretty robust, especially Knowles. Ironically a whirlwind would probably take his Syd Topper style syrup right off.

Shame Higgins looks like dobby the house elf now, though.

    Bump.

I take it this is the main snooker thread here, so thought this the best place to come. So O'Sullivan makes a 147 break at the World Open, but has to be convinced by the referee to pot the last ball:

    Then explains why afterwards:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snooker/9016505.stm

Perfect showcase of him really, great player, but not such a great guy.

What, no extra prive for a maximum break? Sure he'll get £20k or whatever the top-break prize is, but there's usually a £147k bonus for a maximum, no?

Must be getting easier these days and advertisers are cutting back on the excessive prizes - just what snooker needs...

Ronnie should have attempted the last black left-handed, blindfolded and with the spider rest if it didn't mean that much to him - I think he's talking it up for the press, tbh

What's this first to three bullshit?
  • Deleted user 20 September 2010 15:33:04
    Snooker version of Crickets 20-20.

    I actually quite like it.

It's the worst thing I've ever heard of. First to five was bad enough. All the best players (with some exceptions) are session players. First to three they haven't even got their coat off.

Bit of a cunt in that last interview.

oh I agree, there are not enough frames for the best players to get into rhythm. But, you know, nowadays people just don't have the time or patience for epic best of 19+ matches

Youtube/twitter generation can't take more than three frames.

Indeed. Doesn't matter if there isn't a prize for max break, at the end of the day it's another 147 on the board for you, and the fans pay to see that kind of thing, without them the whole thing falls apart. Not very nice to dismiss it out of hand and say that it doesn't feel that great to make one. I'd love to have the ability to make a 50 break, let alone a 147 in front of a crowd and on TV.

The more I see of him the more his pisses me off. If you don't like it Ronnie, fuck off and take all your demons with you.

On another snooker topic. Did you guys watch John Higgins interview with Zoe Irvine (I think that is her name) at one point I was in tears..cheating bastard, no class once again.

That interview doesn't sit well with me. It will be interesting to see what sort of reaction the spectators give him when his ban expires.

I agree Duffman, I've never been a fan of him. I admire his ability, he is a fantastic player (probably one of the best ever) on his day and that side of him I love to see, but his swipes at the sport, threats to quit and general downbeat attitude (including that Hendry walk-out fiasco) don't sit well with me.

He just acts like a miserable twat almost all of the time. I saw that interview he gave about the 147 live and it made a complete mockery of the great snooker he'd just been playing. This thing sums up the guy for me.
