You think the people in the stores have any idea what goes on there? They didn't even know they were going bust last time along with most of the staff. They don't get told anything from head office.

When GameStop pulled out of Northern Ireland they did so by having trucks roll up, told the staff to start packing up and tomorrow and if there's any complaints they won't give a reference for future employment.

    They're just lovely really.

    @FuzzyDucky

Good ol Gamestop. Do not miss working there. On a related note I have family who work with Game in a supplier capacity, would love to know what the story is.

Don't want them screwed over if possible.

I chanced my arm on a £99 2DS XL from Grainger Games. It, uhhh, didn't pay off, took the money but 5 days later, still no dispatch. My fault, wasn't expecting much from them.

@trevhowson they have 200 leases that are up for renewal. They will either leave it shut if its not making enough money or relocate outside of the shopping centre if there are sales to warrant it. There is another possibility that they will have a concession within another retailer in your city.

In Stoke when they took over Gamestation, the fucking geniuses decided to close that store (that was in a prime location) and open up an identical store above the existing one in the shopping centre (the place with the highest rates). They even made a stairway so you could go upstairs to an absolutely identical store.

The people running Game smoke crack, I'm sure.

Gameplay got bought out by Game 18 months before 360 came out, so technically you still bought it from them.

Yeah but they left the site to itself for a while. Good prices, pre orders a day early and so on.

Didnít realise they made a stairway. I thought you just went up the escalator.

Heard through the grapevine that staff are under consultation for contract revisions.

Not a good sign. I imagine to reduce the payroll bill. Not exactly the right approach to engage employees and build any form of commitment to provide good service.

On a positive note. Took a bunch of old Xbox 360/PS3/a couple of PS4 games into Game.

    £82.00 worth.

New PS4 controller, grips, 2m charging lead, stick caps, and still £12.00 in credit.

    Thats ok in my books.

Simple, easy and I got a new controller.

Did I mention I got a new PS4 controller, midnight blue?

Seems a lot of effort to get a 50 quid controller.

/wait ignore me. I thought you traded in a PS3 and 360 console.

I got £134 for a 360 and a xerox box full of games.

Looking at the receipt there were some that they paid me more for trade in than they were selling them for new in that very branch.

@eleven63 I tried to do similar a few weeks ago, but my local Game has started refusing to take games for older platforms. They outright told me that they were only now taking PS4, XB1, Switch and Wii-U. So they're not taking PS3, 360, Wii, 3DS or Vita.

Couldn't find anything on their website to substantiate this, so I'm assuming it's just a single-store or regional policy.

I donít know if weíve mentioned that Game are cunts before have we mentioned that Game are cunts?
Post VR price drop they have begrudgingly listed the VR starter pack for £259 but then have the same pack with Resident Evil for... £349 and many of their amazing bundles for way over £400, awesome.

Going into a brick a mortar today to pick up some things for the first time in ages. The temptation to go into game and get ni no kuni, but no I won't do it....

@simpleexplodingmaybe As of this morning, it appears all 60+ of their stores are closing.

    That escalated quickly...

Massively cunty if true. I checked with Amazon to see if they also made a similar genuine mistake and only reduced the one product. Nope, they change all of them.

Went into Game. The girl who served me to be fair hadn't been brought up to speed on the offer, and had to check with someone else that this was actually the price (I would have thought they'd send out a flash briefing or something to staff but no idea how they operate these kinds of things internally).

But I walked out £260 lighter, with a PSVR bundle, Resident Evil, and a months voucher for the TV package.

I wanted Skyrim, but it wasn't in the deal.

EDIT: Game online store have just gone out of stock
