Probably they're creating a false sense of suspense with an artificial queue, making people more likely to buy something just because they've been waiting so long.

Just got on, it's shit. TR is £30 for example, AC £35, Forza Horizon £33, Mario Rabbids Gold £40, to give you some idea

What a waste of time. Everything is cheaper elsewhere.

Nope... Argos and Smyths Toys both have or had cheaper deals than this.
    Nothing great at all.

Not only are the queue situation and the fact their prices are still more than most other places hilarious, but the message at the top of their site stating that they will aim to dispatch all orders within 7 days.

So are they expecting massive demand, or is their warehouse operation now so barebones that it takes them days to dispatch orders.

Why would I pay more for a game (say FIFA, £40 at Game, £34 at Amazon) and wait a week to get it when I could get it cheaper and tomorrow from Amazon?

They won't make it to Black Friday next year.

Felt like I should share this, purely for the sake of balance.

Last week I wanted to do a trade in for RDR2 before work, but the bus was late and I was pushed for time. I thought I'd chance it though.

Walked into Game, which was pretty empty (early or dying, who can say), picked up a copy of Red Dead which was THE RECOMMENDED RETAIL PRICE, took it to the counter with my old games and did a swap. A pleasant young man, friendly and well spoken, did the whole transaction in about a minute flat without offering any insurance, points or random shite.

    True story.

Argos are currently the worst for that. I bought a firestick last week and was a litany of annoying questions.

Would you like product protection insurance?

    No, it's only 25 quid

Would you like to take out a buy now pay later plan over 18 months?

    No, its only 25 quid

Would you like to open an Argos credit card to receive a discount on the purchase?

    No, it only 25 quid...

And to make matters worse, they seem to have taken out the self service machines so you have to talk to a human.

I hate those kinds of transactions, but most of the time you can tell that the person working behind the till really doesn't want to be offering these things.

It's a weird and annoying experience in which neither person wants to hear or say it, but some clown in a suit miles away thinks it's a great idea and has ensured as many people experience it as possible.

Walked in on Sunday to buy a PSVR for my brother. They had a reasonable deal on.

Picked up PSVR, Astrobot and Resident Evil for £179.99.

"Would you like a bag for 5p?"

    "Yes please"

    Handed over £180.04

"Actually we don't have any bags. Here is your stuff."

"Um, I just paid for one, are you refunding me the 5p, and you expect me to carry this large box and loose cases around by hand for the rest of the day?"

"It's only 5p so no. And yes, just carry it."

So I got the money refunded and ordered from Amazon.

I understand running out of bags, but the attitude of the tosser and his manager was just ridiculous. They genuinely did not seem to understand that I was not happy to have to carry around a large expensive box and some loose games in my arms.

Or paid for the super-duper-expensive special edition of Fallout 76, to get the shitty nylon bag that comes with that.

Ok, so it's not Game, but the other specialist high-street retailer that sells games is about to go back into administration. Suspect the writing's been on the wall for HMV for some time. Streaming services look to be pretty much killing mass-market physical purchases of movies and music.
