| I must be a rare person that has never traded a console or game, hell, I've even got the old broken ones stored away. I like the memories that they bring. |

You are correct but I did get £190 for mine a few months back.
@SiroccoJetProp Where are people selling PS4s for £300?
They're also taking Switches in the trade deal for a lot less than you'd get selling yourself. -

Registered 16 years agoI've since checked the terms and conditions for this offer. It doesn't say anything about 1 console per transaction OR per customer either, so the manager arbitrary deciding to be a dick and tell me its only 1 console per customer was just made up.
Total bell-end of a manager. What little chance they had of getting any business of mine is zero now. Ironically it didn't stop me at all, so his little-Hitler act just made him look like a dick in front of his staff. -

Registered 14 years agoI put my PS4 pro on Facebook marketplace last November after a recommendation by a friend. I would of never considered Facebook otherwise.
It sold within 4 mins, had to turn away someone else who was 2 mins later.
Item was collected and paid for within the hour.
I would NEVER consider trading in my console to those money robbing cunts, GAME. -

Looking on eBay sold listings, an original (not slim) 500gb PS4 with no games is going for between £120-130 on average, so Game offering £150 is a good deal.
I personally don't understand why you would trade a console in to GAME for half its value. eBay/Facebook Marketplace are far better options
I would also have said there’s less hassle trading in at a shop, but… ok I learned my lesson there. -

Yeah, their usual trick is saying you don't have the original HDMI cable - then they knock 10-15 quid off. Even though the one you give them is better, and the people buying it couldn't give less of a shit.

1. There's dust on it. The manager claimed that they take the console, leave it for 3 days then put it out on display (and they do not clean them up, which is a lie as the second shop wiped it all up before boxing it up to send).
2. The controller is fully functional, but the controller's rubbers are 'broken'. It's a 6 year old controller, and they had worn significantly, but well within the expectation for a PS4 original so I'm not sure what they think a 6 year old used controller was going to look like.
3. I'm just not going to serve her. No reason given. Nothing wrong with the trade he just didn't want to do it for his customer.
4. I traded in a PS4 from you before. So you can only ever trade in 1 PS4... Ever. I checked the terms later, doesn't mention this anywhere.
Ironically, all the cables (Power, HDMI, USB) were likely to be non-original, given the age. They didn't actually test them either, they plugged the PS4 into the TV with the cables they already had.
Just fucking strange. -

Registered 20 years agoTo be fair, I did wonder if the rubber on the controller sticks might be something they’d routinely pick up on. It’s a really common DS4 issue (as I’m sure we all know).
Thankfully I’d replaced mine a couple of years ago - new stick were about £2.50 from Amazon yet I can imagine Game knocking a lot more off the trade in price if they were split.
Cables is just annoying. Everyone has a load of old USB cables lying around and if I’d thought about it I could have brought a few spares from home so they could take their pick. I’d been using the one they rejected fine for ages- it just had a slight split in the rubber at one end.
Oh well, it was only a couple of quid.
It does sound like the manager in your local store is particularly fussy though… -

Registered 14 years agoThe missus tried a trade-in for my PS4 Pro at a different Game.
It too fell at the "rubber is slightly cracked" on the controller hurdle and that they couldn't replace them with the grips they sell in store as they would be "non-original".
Because of this they tried to knock £75 off the price as that was "the price of a new PS4 controller".
Never has a thread title been more apt. -

Registered 16 years ago@mwd2000 Amazon says £45 for a new official PS4 controller. We're all used to Game whacking an extra £5 onto RRP, occasionally even £10. I think a £30 Fuck You Tax is a new low even for them. -

The thing is, if you're buying a secondhand console from PS4 it does seem reasonable to expect all the bits (OK not leads) to be genuine. It's not like they're cheap.

Registered 17 years agoWhat sort of prices do they offer for old 360/PS3/Wii U games? Is it even worth bothering to take them in? I've looked at CEX and they generally offer less than £2 for most of the games I'm planning on selling... -

This is true, at least as far as PS3/360 games go. I tried to get rid of some a few years back and they didn't take them any more. Not sure about Wii-U, but that's probably in the same camp.

Yeah, can add to the confirmation that they don't take in any consoles or games older than PS4/XB1/Switch. Ah well, CEX it is for those.
I did manage to trade in my OG PS4 and a game and get the Series S for just £70, thanks to my local store having a 50% extra trade-in credit offer, which I'm quite happy with.
