Apparently, there's clever software jiggery pokery to mitigate against stuff like that, so it will do the portrait mode and such which took two lenses to do on the last gen hardware.

But, yeah, if it was that good, why bother with two lenses? I dunno... I tend to take pictures of stuff in the middle distance because I don't really like other people, so it's not a deal breaker. Certainly, it's not 300 quids worth of deal breaker.

Yeah, for me neither. XR is the only one I am even considering, not the least because photos made with mobiles always look a bit shit except when looked at on mobiles, anyway.

For anything "serious", I use a real camera.

All the functionality of 3D Touch is still in place, just with a longpress instead of a harder press. So you'll still be able to use shortcuts.
Not so sure about that because for example a long press on the keyboard lets you select different characters, while a hard press activates the cursor. Itís not just for shortcuts, but I guess if they can sack off F keys then they can sack off 3D Touch as well

Heh, itís a testament to how well Apple promoted 3D Touch that I only learned about the hard press on the spacebar turning the keyboard into a trackpad last week when everyone started talking about it getting dumped.

Doesnít have to be on the spacebar, anywhere on the keyboard

    MIND BLOWN

I also use gboard, so it's redundant anyway.

I had no idea you could do that either.

@nickthegun can't iOS gBoard do that on the spacebar? Works with a long press on Android. I find it very fiddly though so I suspect the iOS version is better implemented.

Did you guys know you can shake your iPhones as a systemwide "undo"?

Iím pretty disappointed there wasnít some sort of SE mark 2 announced. I can see that itís time to leave that chassis behind perhaps but they clearly don't another compact phone in their future at the moment.

I came from the 6s to the SE and, once used to the smaller screen, much prefer it. I like using it one handed while walking the dog, like it in my jeans pocket, like how compact it is in my jersey while cycling.
All the new models are even bigger than the phone I already thought was too porky.
I guess Iíll ride this one out until they stop updating the OS and then... dunno?

I (also?) don't want bigger phones, but then my 8 is (obviously) still plenty for a while.

Not sure how convinced I am by FaceID, but I guess I'll have to adapt for my new phone at some point. Maybe an SE 2 will be out by the time I want to upgrade.

Did you know with gboard you can slide left/right on the space bar to move the cursor when editing text?

    MIND BLOWN AGAIN!

This also explains why I occasionally thought my phone was haunted.

Another one I like is double tap and hold on the Maps app and slide up and down to zoom

They gimped the right specs, for once.
You mean the 3D Touch? I've not used it once in 3 years.
3D touch is great. How else do you sneakily read WhatsApp conversations without actually opening them?

@elstoof - I mean sure but it's easier to touch a bit harder than it is to swipe down, turn on airplane, read, exi and then turn off airplane.

Bit weird how the XR is bigger than the XS (which presumably is the same size as the X). Quite confusing to compare them. Not sure why the XR isn't simply the same as the XS/X but stripped back in features.

Probably a different screen size for the R to hit a certain resolution given the PPI is lower

Actually what about an iPhone SE MAX? You get all the benefits of the small form factor but with a 6.3" screen. :o

Now that Apple have killed off the SE (the cunts) they could just make a big small phone.

I would also hazard a guess that it's the size of the cheapest off the shelf LCD screen they could get.
