Some scans. Looking very much like Fire Emblem Cube. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Do we know anything at all about this version? Aside from 'it's a Fire Emblem game'?

You missed Mario Party on the same page. (or maybe you didn't) Strangely, it's looking like the best game graphically on the Wi so far.

The cut-scene pictures appear to be widescreen, but the in-game screens are most definitely 4:3. Which makes me think they've just done the usual 'let's put black bars on the top and bottom of the screen while this cut-scene is playing for no apparent reason' trick that everyone seems to do.

Look at the second page. The not letterboxed/cropped ones.

I really hope they use the extra storage on the Wii disks to tell more of the story through the cut-scenes. They were gorgeous on the Cube and there should have been more.

After Metroid this is the game I want most. I don't expect a PAL release in 2007 though.

    Better screenies!

The cut-scenes look very nice indeed, but I'm not so convinced about the character models on the 'zoomed out' game view. They look kinda 'crunchy' and don't sit well with the backgrounds. :-/

Don't know about the cut-scenes, but it seems the extra storage is used to deliver a longer game. Gamefront reports that the Wii Fire Emblem will be 44 chapters (the GC one had 28 chapters). Oh my, this will take longer than Zelda.

I hope it also includes 3568 party games, just to rouse the trolls. :)

EDIT: Oh, it's out on the 22nd of February and can be played by remote, classic controller and GC pad.

It's the Japanese release date, just to be clear.

If the wiimote can't be used as a kind of pointer to direct the troops, this game will piss me off to no end!!! Here's hoping...

I doubt it; from how I understand it you'll be using the Wii controller sideways as a digital pad. I think.

Gaming heaven is lunchtime on the GB Micro and Fire Emblem via headphones.

Should I continue to post new screenies? Or does nobody really give a shit about Fire Emblem? :-)

Good, I seem to play each fire emblem on and of for a few years before I finish it. Yet I always enjoy them immensly.

Definite buy once I'm through all the wii games I already have.

Aside from the Zelda's Path of Radience was my favourite game on the Cube. Which I admit is a little bit like saying aside from blue and green red is my favourite primary colour, but still it was an excellent game and when this is releasied will probably be the point I get a Wii.

Surely you're not suggesting that there weren't any other decent games on the cube than the Zeldas and Fire Emblem?

Depends. If he's a follower of Ittens colour theory then he isn't. If not then yes.

It was more a dig at the number of games that were released for the thing. Decent would be subjective anyway, and I tend not to play stuff most people would classify as decent. Usually I only have time to buy and play the stuff that could be considered best in field, but I'll occassionally take a chance with stuff that I can pick up on the cheap. Fire Emblem was an example of the latter, and it's turned out to be so absolutely aces that I'll buy a console to play the next one.

Will this be better than Zelda or Halo 2?

More Fire Emblem goodness in the form of a new trailer. Damn, I want this game.

    EDIT: fixed link, sorry.

Well... lovely rendered stuff again, as always. Would've liked to have seen a bit o' the actual game, though!

I'm still playing the "original" GBA game. It really is great, loads of nuances, without the overboard (IMHO) complexity of games like Disgaea.

I think it's interesting how most of the difficulty stems not from simply making progress, but doing so without losing any useful team members. All it takes is one careless turn for that pegasus rider you've been building up to drop dead, and there's nothing else for it but to restart the chapter.

I have turned off the battle animations and stuff though, because it was just taking far too long.

I'll be following this one's development with interest, can't be arsed with going back to Sacred Stones or Path of Raidance though. I take it there's no news of a UK release yet?

Nope, no news regarding the Euro release. I'd guess Q2 (where the US release is planned) or Q3 (lots of text, and they might decide to do Kisuaheli, too), though.
