for anyone who has the "broken disc drive" problem: maybe you read in a thread of mine before, that i had the problem with the broken disc drive. the drive didnt take discs and made strange noises. as i could not send it back to sony ("import to germany"), i had to go other ways: i opened the console and fixed it by myself! now i know what you have to do! here is a little guide: what equipment do you need? you need an torx 10 screwdriver and a pretty small philips screwdriver like you use it to fix glasses or other stuff with extremely small philips screws. then you need another philips screwdriver, a bit bigger than the small one. 1. in the first step, you have to go to this page: http://www.teknoconsoles.com there you can download a video tutorial which explains how to open he console. its pretty good, everyone should have no problems to open the damn thing. then you have to download another video tutorial. its named "cleaning the lense". it explains how to open the bluray drive. 2. time to open the console follow the video tutorial until you have removed the bluray drive. 3. time to open the blu ray drive (you really have to be careful here) follow the video tutorial until you see this: http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/english/NEW... lets call the side of the drive, where the disc slot is "the lower side" and the left side on the picture the "upper side". on the left and the right side aof the drive you see two long black plastic "things". you normally should be able to move them up and down a little bit. but in the most cases with broken drives, you will see that you cant move the right black thing. this is the reason: if you look at the big metal "border" which holds all the laser stuff and the lense etc, you see that there are 4 "screws" which hold the thing - two on the lower side where the disc slot is and two at the upper side. when you exactly look at the upper right side of this metal thing (its the upper left side on the picture), you will see that it is not in the right position. you have to put your finger on the upper right screw and push it down ("down" in this case really means "down" and not in direction to the disc slot!) you have to be careful but you have to use pressure, too. then you should hear a sound like "CLICK" and it should lock in his right position. now you should be able to move the right black plastic thing up and down a little bit! after that you can put all the things together again (like in the video tutorial). now everything should work fine!!! but maybe you can insert a disc but it wont read it and you wont get it out again. if that happens you have to push the eject button for 10 seconds. then you should hear some noises inside the drive, the disc will come out and after that everything should work! i hope it is possible to understand my little guide and it helps you guys. if there are question, i will try to answer them. Registered 15 years agothe problem is, that it is pretty difficult as the proble is far inside the bluray drive. there is one part in the drive which isnt in the right place and is locked in a wrong place and so the mechanism doesnt work properly. you have to carefully push it in the right place. then is everything works like a charm!
i will try to make a little "how to" and take some pictures of it next week, when i have enough time... -
