His first port of call will probably be trying to work out how the useless bastard keeps getting his contract extended.

As far as I can tell, his only positive attributes are 'bleeds black and white' and 'plays with passion'.

We've signed James Mcclean from the Baggies. I could care less about his political views, which have already caused a massive slit in the fan base. I just think he's a bit shit. 4 goals and 4 assists in 3 season's. That's fucking dreadful. I really want Rowett to succeed but this the first bit of business that so can't get my head round. Even more so that he's tried to sign him before.

I don't know if he'll last the season.

I mean, he'll be sacked relatively soon, but he looks like Alan Brazil's less fit younger brother

And apparently Frank Lampard's Derby are buying Martyn Waghorn for 8m and Jack Marriott who Mick let go rather than sign him to a cheap contract

Are Coventry still homeless? I thought they had gone back to the ricoh but our friendly against them tonight is at Nuneatons shanty town.

Bum bags. Watching the friendly as we speak and Villa look turgid. Same as it ever was.

People are very quick to critise Steve Bruce but I don't see any of you writing an award winning novel any time soon.

Bamford's big career goal must be to play for every club in the championship

I'm cautiously optimistic about this season. We looked decent in our last run of friendlies, beating wolves and Southampton, and our new signings look pretty lively.

I wouldn't have minded us having a stab at signing bamford but I suppose at 24 now he is what he is. He's not a potential world beater, he is just an ok championship striker.

I think Frank Lampard's Derby are working on signing Waghorn from us in a deal which is pitifully cheap but we will have to accept because they're much more likely to challenge for the playoffs until March

Frank has brought in Jessica Fletcher to his back room staff to help solve the mystery of why we implode as soon as Easter eggs appear in the shops.

Didn't notice all the activity in here! Bruce is the safe bet for any new owner to be fair. Would rather that than do what Cardiff did when Tan first arrived and bought Solskjaer in as a complete unknown. That said I'm really interested in how Frank gets on at Derby. Even with a full career at Chelsea, it's hard not to like the bloke.

Our pre-season has been fucking dreadful to be honest. We're still a few signings short, still have a lot of shit that got us relegated stinking up the place and we looked utterly dreadful on Saturday. Rowett's not air brushed it to be fair, but we're a week away and putting performances in like that. Hughes has properly instilled a losing mentality into the club. They look completely dejected when we go a goal down.

I cant see rowett getting you straight back up, certainly no automatically. Still, his football is pretty dire to watch, so you might do a Cardiff.

He's got no alternative. The club's been very clear that they want to get straight back up so if that doesn't happen it'll be seen as a massive failure. Cunt's have got no one to blame but themselves after 2 /3 years of complete negligence though.

His game management isn't good enough to maintain a promotion charge. He times his subs far too late, takes the wrong players off and will set up incredibly defensively against anyone he thinks can score goals. You'll dick a few teams in the bottom half by a cricket score which will flatter your GD, but I suspect you wont be taking many points off the top six.

Grim. We have needed someone to get some discipline instilled back into them, but the thought of it going back to all out Pulis makes my heart sink. I'm not ready for another 10 years of fucking binary football again.

He's been making use of the likes of Darren Fletcher in pre-season- who's legs went 2 years ago, Diouf- who couldn't put a ball into a net if you had a loaded shotgun pointed at his family, and Charlie Adam. Who looks and plays like an amateur Darts player, and single highhandedly put a few nails in the relegation coffin last season. He hasn't worked out a way of getting our 3 best midfielders working together either, which is worrying. Add to that, we've only got 1 striker that can score goals, 2 if you count Crouch- which as much as I love him, is a travesty that we're still relying on a 37 year old striker after 10 years in the Premiership.

I'm really not looking forward to this season.

I'm nervously cautious about the season. Pre-season friendlies, whilst telling not much about competitiveness, has told us a lot about the style of football that our new manager plays, and it's a bit of a revelation from Mick's agricultural approach.

The nervousness is that we seem to be selling quite a few of our more seasoned pros and replacing (or not) with lower league youth prospects. I have to be realistic about who we can attract, and it clearly isn't PL fringe players or even established Championship players (we can't compete with wages with many sides). I hope that lower league hunger translates into some results, I don't think even our most stupid fans have any expectations of threatening the play-offs, but I think if we got into trouble early we might not have the experience to clamber out of it.

At least it's different. Under Mick, it was just hideous football with the sole aim of not going down. At some point, there had to come a point of realisation that football is a spectator sport and is supposed to be fun (it didn't, not to him at least), perhaps even in defeat

Paul Hurst (ex-Shrews). Different from our past few managers significantly by:

    A) being in work when we appointed (i.e. we poached)
    B) isn't tried and tested in the Championship/PL
    C) is young

He's only our 17th (I think?) manager since turning professional in 140 years
