I get that and I feel sorry for our caretaker manager who was doing a great job and should really have been made permanent.

However, I reckon most people could be a decent football manger you just need to be either :

    - In the top leagues, benefiting from a loads of cash
    - In the lower leagues, benefiting from getting loan players

Therefore, I'm more optimistic than for a long time as he has the connections. I actually like the guy though - he used to always say hello and stop and chat to my mum in Sainsburys. Before the days of supermarkets delivering though - he was still a player at ManU at the time - he could be all different these days I've no idea.

It looks like we're similar to last time. Conceded early and then played better than the oppo. No real fucking point as we couldn't score with Tracy from Accounts

    No longer really relevant, sadly.

Think our new rivals will be Posh / Southend / Colchester (if they go up)

Brentford deserved the win. We were totally flat for most of the 90, though no criticism should be aimed at Smith. Must be given a pre-season and transfer window to offload deadwood and bed in his own philosophy without the quick fix of loanees and “experience”.

@ejayem We've had a good run at home against your lot in recent years and no change last night. I was just settling for the point until Maupay popped up with that goal.

I can see some gnashing of teeth from the Villa fans, but you really need to stick with Smith. He's a good manager, a great guy and a Villa fan.

Does the EFL trophy final get played at Wembley?
If so, both Bristol clubs have an outside to half decent shout at playing there this season, which I don't get to say too often. Going to the Rovers Sunderland semi myself. Hopefully my accent won't get mistaken for a dirty mackem's. Might wear my toon top to make that clear.

@cowell The teeth gnashing is by a loud minority of boo-boys sadly. Every club has them, some worse than others. Real vocal on Twitter after a defeat, usually boo their team off at half-time if they aren't winning.
Fortunately, most of us are happy with Smith's appointment still and see the positives he's already instilled into the club, albeit having to deal with an inherited squad that are likely a little over-the-hill to adapt to his philosophy fully week in week out.

Our lot are a fair bit more patient, although alot of folk were starting to stress about when Frank took over. We got something like 4 points from his first 10 games. With hindsight we were only losing by the odd goal, but we were starting to look like relegation candidates. An easy cup game gave us a much needed win and we've been in decent form since. I think we'll finish top 10. See you next season ;)

Villa are almost as toxic as the referees in the championship. Neither should be treated with anything but total disdain. We currently have the most goals conceded across all the divisions.

Bag of shite. Everything has changed at the club yet everything continues as it has in the downward spiral. I can only hope the summer changes things.

Hah, I am the proudest one. We are the bestest at being shite.

I misread the statistic, it is as follows: "Villa were well beaten as their total of home goals conceded this season rose to 32 in 17 games, the worst in English football's top four divisions."

I understand, I do. We are not the worst. We are still a bag of shite. Just a little less shite than other shite.

It is just hard to appreciate how shit something else might be while embroiled in one's own collective shit.

@the_milkybar_kid exactly my point, objectively Stoke are shite but my Reading supporting mate is convinced Reading are the biggest shite.

    Basically we are all shite.

I can't believe there's this many teams that are this fucking guff. Honestly we've had 2 good games all season but there's still teams below us. I can't comprehend how bad it is. Im sure it's a fever dream and I'll wake up in the warm bussom of Premier League comfort with no real worries.

I actually had a thought yesterday after the game, I reckon we'll go on a tear and win every single game left, and still get relegated on goal difference on the last day
