It's a USB device from Microsft which you connect to your PC and let you connect your wireless Xbox 360 controllers and headset for use in the PC.
It's already out in Asia and can be ordered fromPlay-Asia. US release is February 21. I haven't seen a European releas date, but it shouldn't be that far away.

According to Play, it's this coming week (16th). Should be cool - apparently you can connect up to 4 controllers to it, which is pretty awesome!

I've just been in town and picked one of these up. It's been a waste of time and a damn frustrating experience.

Drivers that come with it aren't vista compatible (not a big surprise), but found the vista drivers no problem. Installed the software with no problem. Connected the receiver and my Logitech G7 stopped working.

Unplugged it, still no mouse. Rebooted pc and mouse is still frozen. Unplugged gaming receiver and rebooted, mouse now works again.
Can't get the pad to connect to the receiver at all, probably due to the fact that its conflicting with my mouse somehow.

Balls all that I can find on the microsoft website or logitech website and a post on the xbox forums says information will be available when the product is more widely available (in other words, when it comes out in the US).

Don't know whether its a vista problem or not, may be fine in xp for all I know. Going to dig out an old mouse and try without my g7 connected - will be well pissed off if I can't use my g7 with this :(

    Edit

Got it working, but not really sure how. Unplugged my g7 and plugged my wired razer mouse in but it wouldn't recognise at all. Rebooted pc and razer mouse still wouldn't work. Plugged g7 back in, reinstalled 360 receiver software, plugged it in and it all works fine. Bizarre, but at least it works now :)

Supposed to get my review one this week, a few people have had some problems getting it up and running. Looking forward to trying it though.

Bought this including a controller for 40 euros last week. I did not try to get it to work though due to lack of time. But I plan on playing Final Fantasy 7 for the first time so I guess it will come in handy.

I received mine in the post this morning so I'll give my 2 cents.

Setting it up was as straight forward as installing any USB device i.e. installing the drivers then plugging it into a spare USB port. (BTW, this is on Windows XP if it makes any difference)

So far I've only had a quick test of it, and it works fine.

I dunno, seems a bit of a waste of money really. By the time you've got the receiver AND the wireless headset?

I'll stick with wires I think. Especially on the PC.

For the PC I'd usually agree to use wires. Mine is hooked up to my HDTV though and the standard cables are too short. I could use a longer USB cable but stashing the receiver behind the barebone and having the controller lying handy next to my bed is quite convenient. Besides I only have one wireless controller for the 360 anyways, a second one cannot hurt.

Anyone got this working with just the wireless headset - wanted to use that in games like Armed Assault yet whenever I try to pair up the reciever and the headset, the headset just keeps flashing the full four numbers instead of one set one.

Am considering getting this, where's the cheapest to get it from? Amazon.com don't ship to Ireland, ebay has huge postal prices and play.com don't appear to stock it!

I doubt you'll find one as MS isn't overly keen on licensing out it wireless controller standard. Sorry :-(

Don't know about arcade sticks, but I play FSX with an wireless 360 controller and it works perfectly. Definitely a good investment imo

That turns on the 360 controller yep but you also have to sync it to the wireless receiver by holding down the little button on it till flashes and then doing the same for the controller. It's really easy to do anyways takes about 10 secs

It's *receiver* is"on" anyway if the receiver is in a usb port.

You press the centre big X on the controller to turn the controller on

You only have to do this the once yes?

Yes. As Dixons says it works very well with the wireless pad. I also you the wireless wheel which works well apart from the force feedback which i hear they will sort out.

Yep. Just so long as you don't go and sync the controller to a 360 console for instance, in which case you'd have to resync it to the wireless receiver next time you want to use it.

But once you've synched and not synced again it'll stay synced. If you know what I mean!

I've given up with my wireless receiver. As I posted above, I had a Logitech G7 cordless mouse that would stop working as soon i plugged the wireless receiver in. It took no end of arsing around to get them both working together. Each time I started my PC up I would have no mouse so had to repeat the arsing about every single time.

I now have a Habu mouse, and when I plug the wireless receiver in my mouse sensitivity becomes barely existent. Have to move the mouse about 12 inches for the cursor to move an inch on the screen.

This happens on both xp and vista and I've tried every possible configuration I can think of. It musn't like my rig :(

Wireless receiver is total crap, doesn't seem to work with any high performance usb device.

I did the same thing, but went from a wireless MX610 to a DeathAdder because I could get it working when the mouse was unplugged, I thought it might be something to do with the wireless technology.

But with further checking realised it didn't work with most USB devices, wired mice, headsets, I think wired controller.

Maybe the drivers are better now though.

As people say, you can unplug all your usb devices, reboot, get the pad to sync and then plug the devices back in.

The Habu is a perfectly fine wired mouse, one of the best I've used for gaming. It's also a microsoft product. Go figure.

I've just picked up ones of these. Seems to work fine as a pad but how do you turn the pad off when you're done?

I don't know how you're supposed to do it but I just pull the battery thing out of the pad:-)

Turns off by itself after a certain period of idleness. No more than 5-10 minutes I'd say but I'm not 100% sure about the exact timing.
