Well she kind of lost me when she said something like she didn't want white folks buying her album. Go fuck yourself Ms Hill!

Curently listening A LOT to Aesop Rock and Galactic.

Need to seek out some El-P, but any other recommendations would be sweet.

edit - Lauren Hill lost a ton of her fans when she started laying into white people. I know I lost all respect for her, shame considering what she'd built up.

I think she said something to the effect of that she'd rather kill her child than have it raised by a white man?

Please please please somebody tell me that 50 pence cunt has actually retired and that this latest thing with Kanye West isn't just PR.

    Please.

Squarejawhero - El P is in the UK next week, well worth seeing live. If you like El P you might want to check out his previous band, Company Flow, and his label Def Jux produced some classic records. Personal favourites would be The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox and I Phantom by Mr Lif.

Beauty and the Beat by Edan is great too, and he is even better live than on record.

Thanks, fella! Off to see Simian Mobile Disco on Thurs... and have spent far too much money recently, so I may have to miss out. I did see Common support Prince a few weeks back though, that was aces.

I'll check out that schtuff... Cheers! ^_^

Unlikely, sorry. You'll probably be seeing a lot more of him, he's got a few films coming up, one with Nic Cage of all people. We'll see how that goes... Never know, he might be good.

Humpety-bump! Not sure if this counts within the Hip-Hop scene, but neither do a lot of other previous mentionables :)

Gotta offer The Mitchell Brothers as a definite recommendation. 2nd album released yesterday & after a listen or so, it doesn't seem as fuckin excellent as their first, however their lyrics still seem pretty tight. As soon after I get past my high expectancy (due to numerous delays) I think I'll settle into it just dandy.

Nice one, I will download that later, cheers

Recently I have been listening to:

Jay-Z's American Gangster - it's alright, there are 4 great tracks on there but the rest is a bit meh

The Herbaliser's Fabric Live mix - a beaut of a mix, 2 Cappo tunes on there for starters which will always flick my switcheses

Lots of great stuff from East Village Radio, particularly a fantastic mix of mid 90s New York hiphop, my favourite era ever

    Plus loads more!

    I shall check those out!

I downloaded that Kleptones Night at the Hip-Hopera mash up, it's quite good so far, but more rocky than hiphoppy.

Has anyone heard the MC Frontalot album Nerdcore Rising? I was a bit suspicious of it but the beats are amazing.

What do you mean by amazing? I'm skeptical of anything left-field

I wouldn't really describe them as left field. They're no Pre-fuse 73, or even Cannibal Ox. Lots of chunky drum-machine loops and bass sounds rather than samples, but comfortingly old-school really. Sort of electroish in places.

Some funny rhymes too. Check out "Yellow Lasers"

"I met her at a Star Wars convention
    Did I mention?
    She was looking for love"

I love the Kompressor track he guested on, Rappers We Crush.
