Registered 11 years agoSo the new R.A. The Rugged Man album is pretty awesome.
Definitely his best album so if you like him you'll love this.
His flow can really be insane at times.

Registered 15 years agoSpending my evening in the company of some Tribe tonight. The Low End Theory (maybe my favourite album by any artist) - Midnight Marauders still the greatest 1-2 in hip hop history. I've been listening to them consistently for about 14 years now, since i first got into the genre. They and The Pharcyde got me into it. Everything works so well, still.
Got the bass up really high -

Did we do De La's new track yet? "Spirit of the Wu".
Absolutely love it. My favourite tune in a long time. If this is the benchmark for their new album then it'll be a serious return to form:

Not a massive fan of intinctive travels generally. Few great tracks like Can I Kick it and Bonita Applebum, bit otherwise it's a bit 80s for me.

Registered 14 years agoA product of its time, yeah. People say Low End Theory is their best, but I've always preferred Beats, Rhymes, and Life -
Great album. I don't really LOVE any individual track in it quite like I do with LET or MM, but I certainly love the album as a whole. -

Registered 12 years agoIts genuinely one of the worst songs ive ever heard. Utter fucking garbage.
But I suppose thats what happens when you release court mandated music.

I mean, she properly needs help. She is totally seriously mentally ill. It's really sad. -

Registered 14 years agoDidn't she get banged up for tax evasion recently?
edit - due to go to jail in July.
Edited by smoothpete at 17:42:39 16-05-2013 -
Yes, this was released the day she went in I think as a sort of protest song type thing. I don't quite understand how it's all working, but her new deal with Sony (don't know what they're thinking) is all related to the tax evasion stuff somehow. -

Registered 11 years agoThing is she HAS paid it, just a bit late.
It would be justifiable if those from tax evading corporations went to prison too, as we are talking about billions that are never going to be paid, but this is a mother of 6 who has done everything she can to protect her children and did pay the ammount in full when it was possible to do so.
America seems very good at locking up uneducated (mostly black) entertainers who are late paying their taxes and not so good at going after wealthy white collar guys who avoid theirs. -

This is excellent. That track about his dad, when he seems to almost start crying at the end, I may have something in my eye at that moment which has never ever happened in a rap track before.

His first album is also really good if you don't have it already. -
And not forgetting his classic with Biggie:
