Off to see Apollo Brown & Ugly Heroes tonight in Hoxton, should be good!
So, most of the UK scene have had beef with Braintax for some years now after he basically dicked everyone out of loads of money and fucked off to Australia.
But he is now apparently back in the UK and there's a FB campaign running to hunt him down.
Some good shit there
This is fucking awesome!

May not go to the Blackstar gig at the Forum next week Saturday 29th, just putting the feelers out there if anyone would be interested. Single ticket for downstairs.
About £35 it was so FV Paypal if I don't use it.

Wu Tang Clan announce new album...
...in an edition of one, to be toured around galleries where you can pay to hear it.
Ended up going with the single
Another eger here?
I was just looking at 5 Mic albums from The Source, here's the list. I have many of these, but still plenty I don't. I think I'll start buying up the missing ones.
Albums that originally received five mics:
People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm -- A Tribe Called Quest
Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em -- Eric B. & Rakim
AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted -- Ice Cube
One for All -- Brand Nubian
De La Soul Is Dead -- De La Soul
The Low End Theory -- A Tribe Called Quest
Illmatic -- Nas
Life After Death -- The Notorious B.I.G.
Aquemini -- Outkast
The Blueprint -- Jay-Z
Stillmatic -- Nas
The Fix -- Scarface
The Naked Truth -- Lil' Kim
Trill OG -- Bun B
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy -- Kanye West
Albums that were not rated upon their releases, but were later rated five mics in 2002:
Run-D.M.C. -- Run-D.M.C.
Radio -- LL Cool J
Licensed to Ill -- Beastie Boys
Raising Hell -- Run-D.M.C.
Criminal Minded -- Boogie Down Productions
Paid in Full -- Eric B. & Rakim
By All Means Necessary -- Boogie Down Productions
It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back -- Public Enemy
Long Live the Kane -- Big Daddy Kane
Critical Beatdown -- Ultramagnetic MCs
Straight Out the Jungle -- Jungle Brothers
Strictly Business -- EPMD
The Great Adventures of Slick Rick -- Slick Rick
Straight Outta Compton -- N.W.A.
No One Can Do It Better -- The D.O.C.
All Eyez on Me -- 2Pac
Albums that originally received 4.5 mics, and were later re-rated to five:
Breaking Atoms -- Main Source
Death Certificate -- Ice Cube
The Chronic -- Dr. Dre
Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) -- Wu-Tang Clan
Ready to Die -- The Notorious B.I.G.
The Infamous -- Mobb Deep
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... -- Raekwon
2001 -- Dr. Dre
Albums that originally received four mics, and were later re-rated to five:
Grip It! On That Other Level -- Geto Boys
Doggystyle -- Snoop Doggy Dogg
The Diary -- Scarface
Me Against the World -- 2Pac
The Score -- The Fugees
Reasonable Doubt -- Jay-Z
A few poor albums on there, especially 2001 by Dre.
They gave five mics to the wrong Outkast album too.

I'm not exactly massively into mainstream Hip Hop, but even I can see 2001 is by no measure a poor album.
I hated it - so dull and one note.
I wasn't a huge Chronic fan either though so what do I know?
Can't comment for 2001, but The Chronic was one of the primary albums of my discovery of hip hop generally, and as such I can't help but rate it as a classic.
Had most of them at some point or another bar both 2pacs, the fugees, nas and kanye.
Also, yeah, wasnt a huge fan of 2001. its not shit by any means, but its no Nation of Millions.
It's that whole thing about being able to tell the difference between your personal preference and what is objectively good.
Again, not big fan of that kind of thing, and I certainly don't have a taste for G-Funk era West Coast stuff like the original Chronic, but to call them "poor" just seems almost wilfully wrong.

I don't really like 2001 bar what's the difference and the watcher, but yeh, its not objectively poor by a long shot.
I honestly thought it wasn't great - the beats sounded clunky/rushed and Dre said nothing new throughout. Maybe 'poor' was the wrong word in a wider context, but against those other albums listed it's a fitting descriptive imo.

That bass line, I love it so much.
Listening to a lot of Black Thought recently (from The Roots). Amazing rapper
And this is great
Black Thought - 75 Bars - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pcu6dbTb00
Then Mos Def basically rapping through the same track with Black Thought (a little like his video about the MF DOOM track). How great must it be that Mos Def is such a fan that he knows all your lyrics

Heh, was listening to that exact same Black Thought track this very morning (I tend to go through all the Roots albums every few weeks or so).
Also, that Mos Def / Marvin Gaye album really is amazing. Hopefully the second part is not too far away, and I'll have to check out the other mashup albums the guy has done (Bizarre Tribe sounds good!).
The Bizarre Tribe one is on youtube in full, I saw the other day

I wish he'd do something new.
New Essa tune (Yungun) is great. Nice relaxed vibe.
He's never going to ditch the Yungun name is he
Currently listening to some french hiphop. This is an album I listened to a lot in college, from '95. I've always loved it. He has a great flow (probably helps it's in french). Good beats too
