This is sooooooooooo good. American rap blogger Shaq listening to General Levy for the first time. Put a massive grin on my face. Classic clip as well.

Registered 16 years agoHello, fam. If you want some low key, work from home beats today, forum fave Amerigo Gazaway has released a tribute to D'Angelo which is kind of like aural valium:

(hes been pumping out a lot of content recently and has pretty much been my soundtrack to this lockdown). -

Love this. I've heard it a bunch of time over the past few months but always forget the name of the track. Finally found out what it's called. -

Registered 4 years agoGod damn the roots and R.T.J. are amazing. I've been going through their catalogues a few times this week. I've seen the roots twice at the forum but never seen R.T.J., I need to correct that next time they are in town.
I think my favourite albums are rtj2 and phrenology. -

Registered 15 years ago@Bichii The Roots have SO many good albums. I’m not sure I could pick one favourite but it’d be from Do You Want More, Illadelph Halflife, Things Fall Apart, Tipping Point and How I Got Over. -

Registered 4 years ago@Dazimus rising down is another personal favourite. Only one I can think of I don't like, but was very highly regarded critically, is undun. The production was so boring to me.
Rtj best ever live? Damn I definitely need to keep an eye of concert dates then. The roots were amazing live and after the show it went on until about 1am with a two hour questlove old skool DJ set. -

Registered 15 years agoTurned off the Four Owls within 20 seconds 😂 I really can’t do with British accents rapping, it just sounds so shit.
The only one I’ve really liked has been Trauma 74’s “Acceptable Citizens” album released a week or two ago. No dodgy accents, nice beats and a nice flow. -

Registered 17 years agoHere's a great soundcloud page for you. In particular I imagine nickthegun and kalel will probably enjoy these
https://soundcloud.com/wax-poetics
There are a whole bunch of 20th anniversary album mixes, where the original sample tunes are mixed in with tunes from the albums
So far this morning I've made my way through Reasonable Doubt and Ready To Die, and I'm on Main Ingredient now. Really good stuff.
