So. 2 weeks in the Royal London, waiting for swelling to go down enough for 2nd operation on my leg. Now 17 days since I came to London for the day.

It got worse on Friday when I was one of 5 people moved for the poor London Bridge victims (and in retrospect, no idea why I was left on the ESAC ward so long) and they moved me to a ward with no windows. I have not seen daylight since. At all. And just now, the rather nice guy next to me has gone, to be replaced by someone in such a state they ... I don't even know

... sounds like a drunk wookie, whatever the fuck he is, needs a dedicated nurse attached, and handcuffs I think from the rattle when he moves, but put on a general ward due to 100% bed occupancy. Vote Tory.

I would very much like to be wheeled up to the helipad on the 17th, and pushed off. Then I could actually, finally, properly sleep.

If I ever get out of here, I swear to the fucking spaghetti monster, I will never ever ever return to London.

They're coming to take me away, haha, hoho, heehee, etc
Or at least I've signed the consent form, 3rd on the list. Being in central London's main trauma centre, just depends on the rest of the capital not getting too stabby or other major incident-y for the next few hours.
And nil by facking mouf too, gorblimey.

Might not even get done today, depends on the other 7 million Londoners and how they behave. Not heard the heli or too many sirens so far this morning, so that's a good sign.

Of course, as with ward mate of mine who took 3 days before they got to him, the point comes when you have to freak out and say 'I'm the emergency now', but long way from that yet.

22 days now, always in wards of 4 beds. So I've seen 88 beds overnight including mine. Number unoccupied - 0. None atall. 100% occupancy. That's how pushed they are, and the theatres te same.

    Again, thanks dude :)

This situation will obviously get better when we leave the EU and get Brexit done and fix the NHS with all the magic money that will appear from the coffers.

Keep strong, I've been in the same position before I understand how shit it can be.

@JamboWayOh Thsnks mate, means a lot. And to everyone on here putting up with my wittering.

Even the wards that are staffed are horribly underskilled, learning on the job, confusion often arises. You have to be your own consultant, one guy in here has a lot more long term problems now, since they dosed him up with something his notes clearly showed he was allergic to, when he was unconcious (before I met him).

Not dissing the staff in any way, the vast majority try their very best doing a job I couldn't, but the need more skills, more experience, and far better support and leadership to do the job properly.

Don't worry it'll all be private soon, and as we've been told private is always better....apparently.

Witter away. Even if you don't get much response it can still keep you a little more sane and doesn't mean others aren't reading and empathising. Hope you get seen soon and you can get on the mend. But keep posting. It's good to sound off, even if it feels like you're screaming into the void.

Yeah well I'm not feeling too guilty (and I am an expert on guilt usually) about cluttering up the forum, I think EG can afford the webspace, how many ivory backscratchers do you actually need :)

It does help to vent thanks, London feels so so alien after years in The Lakes, a familiar community of grizzled gaming bittervets is a great support :)

Except the 'Yorkshire puddings are shit' atrocity of course :)

@wuntyphyve hoping, but they were non committal earlier, I presume question mark over how many theatres they can staff.

Given I'm bed bound, 300 miles from home, been here 3 weeks and have 6 open contact sites on my leg, going to argue I'm an emergency, as best I can.

Give it a few more weeks. They will all be sexy nurses.

On a more serious note,. Do you have any visitors able to make the trip to see you?

Actually, tonights is a very willowy Polish lass with a quirky smile, so that's started to happen.

After pleading my case and pitching it pretty well I think, am on the list for tomorrow.
Dear London, please put down your knives for the evening, skin up a fattie and have a night off if you would, and I'll leave you to it asap.
Or it's Tuesday at best apparently. Fucking emotional rollercoaster, never mind the 2kg of steel screwed into my leg.

All systems go it seems, according to a vvvv senior consultant, I'm about to have some 316L Surgical Stainless Steel inserted in me.

Have a new ward mate. Heard his consultant (paraphrase) -

"Roll over for me, curtains closed please nurse. Oh well yes, they are ... absolutely enormous. We're going to get you on increased pain medication immediately ... yes I'm sure they do hurt ... then we need you to rest for a couple of days, with your bum above your heart, to reduce the swelling ... yes 2 days at least I'm afraid, we need some significant reduction ..."

So basically bum grapes impressive enough to impress a bum grapes specialist. Ouchie.

Lol afraid not. I just really enjoyed the James Roberston Justiceness of the consultants approach, a loud and confident appraisal of a clearly magnificent set of Clements.

Patient making wincy moans, but sounds like surgery soon, so he'll be good.

Though reminded of a last frame of an old Nobbys Piles -

"Ok Mr Piles, we've finished the operation. They'll sting and throb like buggery for the next 6 weeks until the swelling goes down, then after that, they'll just throb like buggery."
