Registered 19 years agodepends. do you want a brick that does everything (990) or a slim walkman phone not much bigger than an Ipod nano (880)?
Horses for courses really -

Registered 15 years agoI love the look of the w880i. Never had aSony phone & tend to go for Nokia's, but I'm interested in the w880i. Only cos it's so wee though. -

It's great, but I'm finding that the SE phone isn't as good as my old Nokia - just not quite as customisable

Registered 17 years agoIf you want a phone with PDA functions go for the P990. If you want a phone and music player it's the w880.
I've got the P990 it's a great phone, very functional and it does the job with no problems (Make sure you update the firmware first if you get one). Syncs with Outlook etc. It's great for what I do at work and home.
Battery life is good, good signal... I can't fault it really.
If you want style, want to make a statement about something about yourself with your choice of phone then the P990 isn't for you.
The P990 just works, it does the job and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. -

Registered 17 years agoI'm 6ft 5" and quite stocky so to me the P990 is a cute dinky phone.
It's not that much bigger than the Motorola Chav (Twice the thickness and add another inch to the length). In fact come to think of it, it's the same size as the Nokia N70. -

True, but the 880 is just tiny - not much bigger than an Ipod nano

Registered 15 years agoDont get the w880!
I got it on upgrade the other day to replace my ever trust worthy W810i. Its easy to be seduced by the looks, but the battery is shite!
I think i may have a faulty one, because i charged it fully, and around 6 hours later it was red hot and had 17% battery left! -

Registered 18 years agoI've always liked the look of the W950. I wouldn't replace my iPod in a hurry, but I could fill up the 4gb flash drive with wikipedia & other tomeraider files. Still only TR2 for the UIQ system though. -

Registered 18 years agoI would say wait for the p1.
Coming soon from what I hear. It's like a P990, but smaller. (you may not like the button layout though...)
w880 has crap sound quality from its speakers. -

Have you had a look at the M600i? It's slimmer than the P990 and is a decent size for a smartphone. Plus it has a quasi-keyboard which makes texting a dream. I've got it on a T-Mobile web'n'walk and now pick up all my email on it. Nice.gif)
It doesn't have a camera though (if that's an issue). -

I really like mu SE phone, it got a good browser and a pretty good rss reader. The keyboard can be a bit tricky to use if you got bigger fingers than an avarege kid but you get used to it. One big downside is the battery life when using wlan. If youre a heavy user you have to recharge almost every day. But, over all a good phone and youll get used to the size of it after a while. -

I've got one (as mentioned in my Mobile Phone Group).
Its practically identical to the K800 in terms of functionality, the main improvement is to the camera cover.
The w880 is a cracking phone, and very highly recommended. -
Are the buttons alright on it? Haven't seen one in the flesh so I haven't had a chance to try them, they look a bit naff but look a lot more robust at the same time. -

Registered 20 years agobuttons are fine to use - but lots of people round the office don't like the look of them. There's certainly less flex on them than is apparent on the old keyboard.
I'd say the joystick is too stiff, 10 minutes of browsing with opera mini and I've got an indent on my finger. -

Registered 20 years agoI'd caution against any SE symbian phones - they messed up big style with the P990, the M600 and the W950, and the P1 could end up being another expensive mistake.
@harryb - you're the first person I've ever seen describing the K800 as crap, its got lots on fans on here... -
I really don't like the k800 - the os on it just seems poor on it .. people used to compared it to the n80 but the only similar thing they had were 3mp cameras.. I dunno - when I used a k800i I wasn't impressed..spoiled by smartphones, maybe?
