Ah of course. I occassionally put The Bends on and think I'm listening to Kid A. Such an easy mistake to make!

I'm not particularly fussed to be fair. I just find it funny that you guys find it unfathomable that somebody cannot like The Beatles. Bit deluded, really.

Do you know how stupid you sound? And for the record, I never said that Kid A sounds like the rest of their stuff. Can you people read? Seriously?

Please please, copy and paste where I said that.

I dunno, listen to Kid A then The Bends and you tell me.

I get the feeling you don't know their records at all. Listened maybe once to Kid A I'm betting.

No GS, it's not about not liking the Beatles. It's about a bizarre attitude that nobody could possibly like them because they're for oldies. Or something equally retarded.

    Good, reasoned debating!

You've only listened to Kid A once ages ago, haven't you?

You're right, I haven't listen to it for a while. Because, when I DID listen to it, there were only 3 stand out tracks for me, ones that I really liked. I've already explained this.
  • Deleted user 25 July 2009 17:47:51
You're well within your rights not to like it (although you can't judge a record unless it's just AWFUL on first listen IMO), but my main disagreement is that you said that Radiohead's records don't really sound that different from each other.
  • Deleted user 25 July 2009 17:48:31
haha, this is a very odd thread.

No no, I listened to it a lot, it wasn't a bad album, but I felt it only that those 3 stand out tracks.

And what I said was, that Radiohead have stayed within the same genres and have catered to the same audience, and are therefore not that diverse. It's nothing to do with the albums sounding the same/different. I made the point that Linkin Parks albums Hybrid Theory and Minutes to Midnight sound different, but you would hardly call them a diverse band.

For the record, I like Radiohead alot. Karma Police is one of my all time favourite tracks.

Though Thom's voice doesn't particularly help either.
  • Deleted user 25 July 2009 17:59:22
No, Radiohead haven't stayed within the same genres. They moved from rock to jazz to electronica to the point where they lost and confused a lot of fans. When Kid A came out there were a lot of very perplexed reviewers and listeners, because it was almost completely different to what had gone before. Hail To The Thief was frowned upon on release because it moved away from post-rock to something far more inspired by leftfield dance.

There's definitely been a movement through their sounds (Kid A is far more abstract than the electronic Hail To The Thief) but other than Thom Yorkes voice, the music has been very different each time.

    So, you're talking shit. :)

My cousin is 22 and likes the Beatles.

Radiohead have to bear the load of having the worst fanbase of any band in the World.

    Worse than juggalos even.
  • Deleted user 25 July 2009 18:01:46
Also some of the Beatles comments here are utterly asinine.

Not only do they have one of the most diverse careers of any band in the history of pop music, their music is timeless to the point where they still sell hundreds of CD's a month and have a Rock Band game based entirely around them being made.

Whether anyone likes them or not, they're one of the most important, essential bands that have ever existed. And Revolver has some cracking tracks that sound as fresh now as they did then.

Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream...
  • Deleted user 25 July 2009 18:03:39
Too late SJH. We've already decided that Dido is far more diverse and popular than the Beatles will ever be and that they are only for old people.

I don't give a shit about importantness, I don't care that they have a game coming out, I don't care how many CD's they sell.

I don't like them, the vast majority of my generation don't listen to them, deal with it.
  • Deleted user 25 July 2009 18:05:14
How in fuck's name do you know that "the vast majority" of your generation don't listen to them? Carried out a poll have you?

You're only going off anecdotal evidence, there's no way you can know that.

So, you're saying that the vast majority of my generation (18ish) DO listen to The Beatles? We know they don't. We know they don't listen to Chopin either, because it's freaking obvious.
