Not sure about WoW-beater, it's too similar, and the much touted-about combat system isn't really that different - which initially disappointed me. But the game is in a formidable state for an MMORPG at launch, looks the business on high settings, and is fun so far - and it's very accessible. Good tutorial tips, maps for every location with quest markers, and so on.

Sounds promising anyway. I've wanted something new for ages now, but Lotro, Tabula Rasa etc, whilst good, didn't clinch it, and vanguard was pants. Looks like even if this isn't an out-and-out WoW-beater it should at least be up there, and for once I know a lot of my mates will be playing it, and that's the main thing really.

Games done downloading so ill be all set when I do get one.

Also what server type will you all be going on PvP?

I reckon the servers going to explode come opening time.

I would suggest RP-PvP if there is one available on release (there should be). Not so much for the "Well met"s but for the usually lower percentage of bawbags.

Oh and I just dug this out you can use an early code to play until a few days after release.

"Step 8: Now you just have to wait for the retail game to arrive at your home. A lot of you have ordered from crappy companies who are inable to provide proper products to their paying customers, so you are probably nervous about not getting your retail key for launch.

Right, I don't have time for another MMO. Really don't. Really, really don't. But I feel like trying this out.

Sorry to ask a question that has no doubt been answered, but does a pre-order now get one into any of the pre-release access at all?

I'm leaning towards the Game offer with the 8 extra inventory slots and a Mammoth mount (although I can only presume if they're chucking something like that in, mounts aren't exactly going to be scarce in the game anyway).

Amazon is the only place left that -may- get you early access and you only get a Bow (but its supposed to be pretty good and can last you twenty levels apparently)

Fluffy ordered from Play yesterday and got a key when they had supposedly closed there offer along with Game so there's a small chance you can from them also.

Now I of course ridiculed everyoen playing WoW on a PvE server, but I am not so sure about PvP servers in this case, to be honest. ;-)

Without factions, anywhere can attack you at any time, as I understand it. While things will certainly settle down a bit, stepping outside in the PvP beta was instadeath, as I understand it.

I agree with the RP-PvP server choice.

We'll have good fun on this game, we will all be around the same level so we can group up and fuck around. Anyone wants to gank us will get their ass handed to them.

I think I'll start off in just a PVP server. PVP is defo the way to go but WOW is scary in RP servers and as I know nothing about Conan, I doubt it would be much fun on a RP server here.

Its not necessarily about role playing, but RP servers generally have a more mature and friendly community. The PvP servers will be completly filled with WoW kids I imagine.

The RP servers on WoW are almost exclusively populated by nutters and sex pests. Never played beyond level 20 on one of those, although a friend of mine did and even she had to switch servers in the end.

Given that Conan has (*gasp*) nipples, I can only see things ending badly on RP servers.

Indeed, I (and everyone else I've spoken to on this subject) think the RP servers in WoW were populated on average by far more mature, interesting people.

It is a shame that there are so many people that roll there just to be with more mature players when it is an RP server meant for roleplaying. By doing this you are becoming part of the problem of the so called 'WoW kiddies.' It is against the rules to not roleplay at all on the RP servers, not that Blizzard bothers to enforce that or many other rules, that is. Hopefully one of the new MMOs coming out actively enforces such a rule.

aye that would be good, Im partial to PvP myself but alsong as its not RP ill be fine

Trying to work out if the different races give better stats for different things like WoW Taurens have more health and such.. Still no code

Not that I have any particular interest in a debate, but that was my personal experience. I had absolutely no issue finding mature people to play on standard (non-RP) servers - but the only time I actually had a deep objection to people was on Role Play. The shit that went on in Elwynn Forest would make a sailor's toes curl.

I dunno how RP would play out in this. There's going to be a lot of people who know fuck all about the lore of Conan, so I suspect much of the "roleplaying" people will do will be complete arse, whereas for WoW it's all much more recent, and much more prevalent among gamers, so people will kinda know what's expected of the world for roleplaying..

I'd say standard PvP.

Well, yeah, sounds like a plan. I'll vote for PvE for now - there's plenty of PvP to be had there as well, and I don't necessarily need the thrill of random ganking encounters. Maybe I am getting old. :-)

That said, I don't mind trying PvP if the majority insists.

PvE would get my vote also, although I wouldn't sob uncontrollably if we end up PvP.
