| True, Whizzo, it's not really that good. ArmA II might be more complex and a hell of a lot more buggy and demanding on hardware but it's the far better game. Hopefully it'll eventually appear on the consoles as it was supposed to be doing. |

I think this game is getting a lot of unjust negativity.
I've been playing through it co-op with mates over live, and we've been having a hoot. I've not encountered any of the bugs. I can't really comment on squad AI as we've been co-op, but its been good fun. Especially the time we were all in a humvee and were minding our own business, when out of nowhere a rocket hits us, and we all jump out in panic, no idea where the enemy's are (were playing hardcore). Moments like this are SO SO few in most modern games. -

though it does seem all you have to do to complete missions is to avoid the waypoints like the plague
So it seems. All the talk about the "war going on around you" pretty much boils down to reining in your team so they don't run forward and get themself killed against the numerous enemies. I've actually been thinking about this for some time - how hard is it to make enemies that have some sense of self-preservation? Like not sticking out your head when a bunch of people are firing at you or "advancing" our from the safety of a stone-walled building into the open...
Regarding the game's flaws, I'd actually be pretty content with some better-designed missions (with no stupid time limits). I think the game itself - besides the rather idiotic AI - works pretty well. And even the AI works at times, it just seems to be incredibly buggy. -

I would suggest you never played the original PC or Xbox Operation Flashpoints? If you had you'd know just how limited this game is. -

Registered 17 years agoYeah. The game itself is OK and I've had fun in co-op (although it does have problems)
but it does kind of make a mockery of the name it uses to sell itself. I think people feel a little cheated with that and the way the ads sold the game early on.
That adds to the criticisms. -

Registered 19 years agoCM should definately not used the OP Flash name.
It quite simply falls short of that almost 10 year old game in so many areas. Hell, even the xbox 1 verstion of OP Flash elite did SO MUCH that this game cannot do (graphics aside) - it even included a mission editor! -

Registered 15 years agofs, gun wouldn't reload in MP. just fired off my 30 then had to stand there like a lemon. having a ping of 400 didn't help either. bf2 gives me pings of about 10. are there no uk servers for this? -

I see this console DLC has been released free for the PC version as it was included in the 243 MB patch I installed this morning. Sucks to be a console owner.
Now if only codemasters had provided the dedicated server support option so there would actually be a multiplayer scene.....this p2p nonsense on the pc for fps games...I swear... -

Registered 15 years agoWhilst I agree with a lot of the complaints with this game, I've found one way to extract more playability out of it via this Tactical Gaming community I joined.
I don't usually join these things but it certainly attracts a group (1,600) of likeminded gamers who want to get the most out of their games. If any of you are interested send me a PM and I'll put in a recommendation for you. -

Registered 15 years agoBoing, has anyone tried the console version after the patch updates? Did the AI improve at all? It was dreadful in the initial game.
Thanks -

Registered 15 years agoIt's fun to play through in co-op, rubbish at everything else. PC port wasn't very good either (controls/interface, performance is fine). AI also manages to spot you through grass. -

Registered 18 years agoThe game is dead on PC as CM have abandoned it. Most of the community that are left are playing the mods/patches put out by one of the members who apparently is a minor God because of the improvements he's made that CM couldn't be arsed with.
Check the Dragon Rising forums on Steam and CM site before buying. -
Bought it for £5, I'm sure I can glean that entertainment out of it, it didn't get bad scores. -
Yeah, me too. If anyone wants to play... Add me as a steam friend. Since there's no friend limit I'm an easy lay... errr... add. -

Hey, don't judge it before you try it, digital download as toilet paper is a revelation -
