Does the new 6F battery for the 8GB work with the normal N95?

N95 8Gig deffo morris. Addresses all the issues with the N95.

But bear in mind you WILL have to charge the phone every night generally. This is not an issue for me at all as its my habit anyway.

    Love mine.

Can't afford the 8GB. So it'll just have to be the normal one. Is it worth it with new firmware?

    mmm

Minuses of N95 (non 8Gig) are:

    - Slightly suspect build quality
    - Battery life
    - Crashing OS (solved by the firmware update you speak of)

So if you don't mind charging every night and you've had one in your hands for a look at the build then its a cracking device.

But the battery life is what cripples the N95.

Less than an hours worth of G3 on a full charge is rubbish. Less than 15 minutes of GPS on a full charge is a piss take.

But it seems like your battery life is worse than everyone elses, deem.

Not valid for the N95 8GB in fairness. I've certainly used the above for way longer than that and happily lasted until that night to charge my phone.

Deem that seems ridiculous. Have you had it looked at?

    What Gizmodo thinks

I'd certainly be wary of the original N95 for sure but happily recommend the updated model.

However, if the build and battery don't concern you the N95 is a cracking phone.

hmmm. I'm really in 2 mind. The Gizmondo review says 18 hour day with moderate/heavy usage, I've also read a report about someone using the phone - he made a step by step diary - surfed the net for a bit, basically used all the features of the phone sporadically, it last hi 12 hours. In fact …HERE it is!

So it should last a whole day, right? RIGHT?

    Great. Ordered. :)

You can shove the new BF-6L battery into the normal N95 but uoi need a Jewell case for it as the back won't go on properly apparently.

Battery life is much improved on latest firmware, as far as I can tell.

i've been through about 5 of the things, great phone when it works, but even with the firmware updates I find it totally unreliable half the time. A friend of mine purchased a phone on contract with orange over the weekend, and was told that orange had stopped selling the N95 due to the amount of returns they have had.

I spoke to orange myself only this Monday as my current one is now playing up, and I'm now being told that if the battery is more than 6 months old, then the phone won't be classed as faulty?? and that I would need to fork out for a new battery before they would look exchanging it for a new one!

Not that I excepted that of course, they are now sending me a new battery free of charge, but they did seem to be desperate to fob me off one way another. Which in my experience is unlike orange, even a one point asking me to take it up with Nokia themselves as it was there problem, rather than orange.

    Not good

    That's not heavy usage.

Granted, since getting a new charger, rather than the USB one I was using, there has been an improvement.

You could say that 1 hour of simultaneous GPRS and Bluetooth use is OK, but the pathetic GPS usage is not good enough, and half the reason I went for the N95.

I have the 8Gb version and with a pretty moderate usage my battery will last between 24 and 36 hours.

Well, it's moderate for me at least:

2-3 long calls a day (30-60 minutes each)
Numerous short calls (a few minutes each)
Up to 15 text messages sent
30 minutes of net surfing on average
    Occasional GPS use
5-6 hours of playing music per day

Messenger works fine for me. You have to connect via a WAP connection for the correct roaming settings, then you're free to switch to a WLAN if you wish.
