With the PS2 versions does it copy the songs to the HD or do you still need to have the disc in the machine all the time in order to play the songs? Just wondering as a friend has some ps2 versions that I could borrow!

It wont copy them to the HDD - you need the disc in the drive. They couldnt do HDD copying without some kind of payment for it, all sorts of copyright and distribution issues there.

    Cheers tony

One other question - I've been looking at the PS2 titles and a lot of the songs on them are on the singstore - although its cheaper to pick up the PS2 versions, are the songs on the the exact same as you get on the ps2 discs i.e same video quality etc? and are there any issues using the ps2 discs on the ps3?

just make sure you have the latest update, although you mentioned you went on the store sol nodoubt your already online...press select on the song seclection screen, you'll then get a message that you can swap discs..swap disc, wait a few seconds and your ps2 singstar songs will be there
not sure if this has already been mentioned...just passing through though :)

I tried to get that working with the Abba version, but couldn't for some reason. What am I supposed to do/look for? Bear in mind I tried it whilst pissed

Don't you just push the select button on the controller and then insert the PS2 disc? like you do when you change the ps3 discs, as I did it with the PS3 Abba one while using singstar vol1

I possibly missed pressing the Select button. Oh well, no biggie. Just used the PS2 for a bit.

What are the best PS2 ones to pick up? Had a look at the Boybands Vs Girlbands and also the 90's collection which looks pretty decent

As I figure that getting these are cheaper than purchasing the songs off the store which would put a huge dent in my bank balance!

    It's personal taste tbh.

I've got Legends and 80's, they both go down a treat.

I picked up the first singstar for the ps2 last night at a bargain price! - off out again at lunch to see what else I can find...the pop ones are pretty good as it usually means most people know the songs. Looked at the rock ones, had to laugh when Roxette - It Must Have Been Love is on that!

I know this isnt the place to ask, but on the PS2 there was a singstar game with extra games, things like the retro tennis game that was controlled by the pitch of your voice!
Was wondering if anyone knew which version this is, if so, please could you email woody02380@googlemail.com Cheers!

    Anyone tried these?

The catalogue description mentions that they work with Singstar but not too sure what will happen if you buy two - how will it know that one is red and the other blue???

Edit: Just answered my own question - no they don't! crap.

The wired PS2 microphones don't seems to be in stock anywhere - does this mean that new wireless PS3 microphones will soon be with us? Also, can someone confirm whether Vol.3 (or any other PS3 version) has trophies yet?

I saw a Queen version on HMV due for release in March, but I didn't see a Vol.4 on any retailer websites.

I'm waiting for wireless mics and trophies before getting into Singstar!

yeh ive been looking out for signstar trophies but no version seems to have them yet. if a queen version is coming in march then techinally it should have trophies because of the january rule. as for the mics, i have been waiting years, im guessing it wont be a while until there out.

Wireless mics, I can definitely understand, but trophies...naw, Singstar doesn't need those. They wouldn't add anything, and really aren't right for the game.

SCEE confirms wireless mics, and a Singstar
Pop Edition [which] will include a new voice control feature, enabling players to be in full control of the game and SingStore using only their voice. The new mics will also offer higher quality sound than the previously available wired mics.
Track listing for the April released Singstar: Pop Edition, can be found through the link.

(looks like that'll be the previously reported "Singstar vol.4", then. :) )

god...whatever you do, don't get your PS3 stolen or let it break, unlike everything else on the PSN which can be downloaded to another machine using your PSN login, singstore songs can't.

So currently I have about 130 songs in my 'purchase history' in singstar but not aloud to download them...sucks monkey balls!

Have emailed Sony just now so hopefully they give me another option

    Anyone with any advice?

Yep - check out my post on page 15 of this thread. Sony will have to credit your account and then you'll be able to buy them again.

result, they did it slightly different for me Tricky, instead of crediting my account (which frankly i would of preferred but of well) they took my psn and new serial number and within 3-4 business days i'll get an email saying i can now download them again on my new machine via the singstar purchase history...yay!
