Following Free Wii Points for people who collected stars Page 2

I think this is the most recent thread about Stars/Wii points so it'll have to do! The search facility is fubar as per always.

Anyway, I received a reply from Nintendo today regarding the Stars to Wii points conversion:

''Dear Customer, thank you for your e-mail.

This facility will be available later in the year.

    Kind regards,

    Your Nintendo Team''

    Not much I know.

Could be good. But let's face it, that's unlikely. It will be a shitty deal.

what annoys me is that your star points now expire after 12 months. i haven't registered anything all year as there's bugger all to get with 'em. i've got a nice pile of vip points just waiting for the day they're actually useful for something...

    grrrr

Not much? Not MUCH?!? The 'Nintendo Team' have just doubled their total replying to customers word count for 2007. Someone's getting a fat bonus this year

Hmm, does this mean we might soon be seeing Wii points for our useless stars?

yeah, I haven't registered my Wii or games that have registration cards (how come they don't _all_ have cards?), but I guess I'll make the effort tonight...have to dig out the f*cking Wii box again...
Isn't it just Nintendo-developed games that have the stars?

As far as I can remember it's only games published by Nintendo. This is why some non-Nintendo games such as Excite Truck come with points.

I've got a stack of points cards just waiting to be added as soon as there's something worth ordering off the Stars catalogue. I really hope this is finally the thing that gets the Stars to points conversion thing up and running because it's well overdue.

Anyone else been and had a look at the holding page? Somewhat unsurprisingly it looks like the redesign is an extension of the wii.com look. All fresh, clean and devoid of gaming baggage.

News from Nintendo Europe -- to demonstrate a rival to the parallel processing of the Sony Cell CPU, Nintendo Europe have chosen to relaunch the website (http://www.nintendo-europe.com/home.php?lang=en_gb) based on a supercomputer grid of interconnected Wii consoles.
However, due to a shortage in hardware the online team are having trouble sourcing enough consoles to complete the configuration. There have been internal complaints that the sales team are diverting crucial hardware out into the retail chain, thus forcing a prolonged outage of the Nintendo Europe website.
The team now anticipate being able to launch in the second quarter of 2008, when supplies of the console stabilise again.

Silly people they are. In that case they need to make a bigger deal of the Wii and DS portals, promise new features in the new year and not make it look like they've got no online presence up - in fact they have quite a lot for the people buying the two current consoles but I reckon a good few will miss that fact. They should treat that home page like a shop front, and "We'll be back soon" for six months looks sloppy.

What are NOE doing to their website? It's been under construction / back soon for a week and a half now. That's crazy talk.

    /wish I'd registered with NOJ instead :(
    /...can you un-register a wii?

Hey, I wouldn't put it past them trying to run the site off Wiis. There's less reason to have a site down whilst you develop another one when you have an active product. It's stupid, totally. It's December, any new site would be budgeted and planned in April most likely and most people would really try and give a planned and deliberate message during their Christmas sales period. Someone's messed up somewhere.

Although... Maybe people kept asking them where they could get Game Cubes, Pokemon Minis and all those "featured" games that should have read "deleted". I guess removing the old site concentrates focus on their products they want to push right now.

Oh, and you can actually buy.

Of course it's not for real guys -- sarcasm has overtaken me. I really can't believe that they couldn't migrate the website within 24 hours, it should have been a seamless switch over if they were being professional.
God knows what we're gonna get?

Apologies for those that took this seriously, perhaps this would suit you better:

Alternatively, they had completed the new website, and had performed rigorous testing with the major browsers and of course the Wii. Cookies and invasive scripting had been eliminated and the much maligned Star Catalogue was being geared up to match the fierce demand of all the Europeans who have not been able to find anything to buy with their piles of Star Points.
However, in an unexpected twist Bowser and his cronies managed to infiltrate NOE's secure facility and made off with all the hardware behind their operations. The equipment is being held for ransom.
A Magic Star has been dispatched to find Mario in a distant galaxy, however the journey time prohibits a speedy resolution.

    Same here.

4 stars to 1 point? That means 4000 stars for a N64 game? That's pretty poor if you ask me, but since there's unlikely to be anything else worth trading my stars on in the near future, I guess that's as good as anything...

Can you swap them for anything else if you don't have a Wii?
