When I was at junior school (78-82, yes I'm old so fuck off) we used to use a glue a lot called Gripfix. It came in a round tub, and was white and solid in consistency. It was applied with a plastic spreader and went clear when it dried. It also had a fantastic sweet smell.|
Can't find anything on the internets, just wondered if anyone else remembered it?
Yes I am bored.
Anyone else remember Gripfix glue?

Remember the glue and the (ahem) applicator, can't remember it being called Gripfix though.
Also I remember it used to congeal into solid lumps around the edge of the tub...bleurgh.
I imagine kids today would just download some pr0n off of t'internet or something instead.

Wouldn't that just be PVA glue you're talking about?

Nah, this other stuff was much more, um, solid than copydex. I remember copydex too because little bits of it could be rolled up into little rubber balls, but this other stuff was definitely different to that - it was much more brittle when solid, for one thing.

@wopr-lower-case , I've been searching for a picture for ages, as no one remembers. It smelled like marzipan, came in a blue and white plastic tub, had a wee spade like plastic applicator. Yup,I'm so glad I've found someone that remembers. We used it in Kenridge primary school in cape town , south africa!

I vaguely remember at school we had two types of glue. White glue which stank and was solvent based. It took ages to be removed from my mates hair.
And paste, which was a water based paste much like the stuff you use with wallpaper.
The white glue was the strong stuff and came with a white plastic spatula.
My guess is these days they don't allow either, because of the powerful chemicals contained within, although the two heads did come in useful at uni.
