Well the sequel to Del Toro's awesome Hellboy started principal photography today all the original cast are returning and the budget is reportedly 10 million more than the original.

Biggest change though is Guillermo Navarro is the new director of Photography and he just did Pans Labyrinth with Del Toro which was obviously awesome.

Oh and apparently Luke Goss (yes Bros Luke Goss) is playing the king of the underworld or something. Not a bad choice as he was quite convincing as the vampire/sucker hybrid thingamy in Blade 2.

    Im looking forawrd to it.

    Anyone else a Hellboy fan?

Just as an aside the cartoon movies being released are really quite great. It has the cast of the movie doing VA work and it seems to be a lighter shade of the comic book.

The second one is just about to be released a week on Monday.

Could be really good, they need to get more of the support characters in it, lobster johnson, that gas guy and the golem dude. Hopefully with the new big budget they'll be able to get them in.

Years ago when he was in pop combo Bros they did a song called "When will I be famous"... humour attempt failed.

:) I got that. Huntcjna, in the forst post, referenced Goss playing Nomak. You obviously read the first post to crack the joke about Bros, so how did you miss the Blade2 bit?

    The trailers up on IGN:

    And it's awesome!!!

Sod The Dark Knight, this will be the comic book movie of 2008. Anyone else think that Luke Goss looks uncannily like Elric of Melnibone' in the trailer?

Looking good! Shame there's another CGI blob.

Not entirely sure if he's managed to capture Mignola on film though. I'm still waiting for an animated movie that pays respect to the art style... it's not impossible!

I'm glad it's got the same high design and production values as the first as it looks gorgeous. I hope they've spent a bit more time on the story and characters as i think they've nailed a great look and even though it's not quite Mignola yet i do like it a lot.

I thought the first one was garbage personally, this one looks more promising.

(And yes, I do like comics and their films generally).

It'd be about 2 seconds long if it was like his work and mostly a black screen, and also a complete rehash of every previous story. Can't believe they didn't make the cartoons more like his style though, it turned into generic disney design.

Mignola has it written into every contract, that his Hellboy design is for the comics drawn by him only.

Each new project needs to come up with a new Hellboy.

What about those hellboy comics drawn by the guy that draws like him because mignola is too lazy/rich to do it himself nowadays?

    I don't getcha?!?

No, but it's not Mignola's art style.

    Screw-on Head is tho.
