Dunno about you folks but I think the song is top notch ... very easily listenable and the part where the lyrics: We've come too far to give up who we are So let's raise the bar and our cups to the stars ... is being sung is so, so, so good! I am totally hyped for their album. |
Any Daft Punk fans here?

Get Lucky has grown on me a lot. Still not really what I hoped for from their return but then again they're fucking geniuses as far as I'm concerned so can't wait for the album. -

A collaboration of Daft Punk and Pharrell should have been incredible. I just find this passable. Real shame. -

Registered 14 years agoWhat the hell. I just played the original again after listening to that cover. Didn't realise the picture isn't actually a picture.
That's a neat little easter egg. -

Registered 12 years agoA week later of listening to it and I still really like it (I don't listen to music radio). Was quite disappointed with Human After All but this is promising so far for the new album. -

I was playing it on my phone and I can't load the video and then surf the net* whilst it plays in the background, so I was stuck on youtube with the static image in front of me. Except for a very brief time, i think the bit where the Daft Punk robot-y voice comes in half way, the picture turns animated and the 4 musicians do a little jig.
Quoi?

Registered 14 years agoStill don't like his vocals. Radio 1 (was driving) had a few remixes / covers of it which were pretty good, though. -

Registered 12 years agoI don't understand why people what the new album to sound like their old stuff. Every album they've done has been very different from all of the others, so they don't really have an "old sound", and if you like their Homework/Discovery/Human After All/Tron style, you can always listen to that. I hope this album is completely different, which judging by "Get Lucky" it will be. -

Not claiming this to be definitive, but I see it this way:

Homework - straight house
Discovery - 70s pastiche
Human After All - acid house pastiche
Tron - square wave/buzzsaw synths. Early eighties-themed (appropriately).
I don't know if I'd guess the four albums were by the same two blokes if you didn't know. Though obviously there are some themes that they toy with again and again - vocoders/reliance on korg synths as a signature.
