Just got this album and really liking it. Doin' it Right and Contact ends the album on a brilliant note unlike the way Discovery ends which felt like it ran out of steam. Saying that, Discovery is still my fave album. |
Any Daft Punk fans here?

Here's a few of the mixes I promised.
Couldn't fit the essential selection mix in with it because the max upload limit was 300MB, but it's here on soundcloud and definitely worth listening to.
I also found this site earlier: 25 Daft Punk live sets or mixes. The ones I uploaded are higher quality though. -
Fantastic! Nice one. -

Another shit album, they're getting worse and worse.
Basically, not a single exciting moment for me on this album except maybe for the last song. -

Registered 16 years agoHaving had time to listen properly, I still quite like RAM. Not as much as Discovery though, as I just prefer that style. But there are a good few I really love, like Giorgio (I love his voice the more I hear it), Lose Yourself to Dance, the awesome intro to Beyond, Motherboard and the last 2 tracks which really have the album go out on a high, much like Edwannawonga said a few posts above.
I definitely enjoy it a lot more than Human After All, but not quite as much as Tron Legacy overall, which felt more consistent for obvious reasons.

Registered 9 years agoFinally listened to this for the first time this morning. Haven't read the whole thread but I'm sure Chic got mentioned more than once (obvious really, I know).
But did anyone get a Steely Dan vibe on one track ? Personally I love it - particularly Lose Yourself to Dance. Overall, its a "dad" album in that they are ageing (and growing a bit chilled, won't say boring) with their audience. -

Registered 17 years agoPretty disappointed in this. None of the tracks have any energy in them and it's all a bit too chilled out lounge music. I kept waiting for a Da Funk or Crescendolls to kick it up a gear but nothing ever came.
It's not that it's a bad album just underwhelming. -

Registered 14 years agoSo there have been rumours that Daft Punk are going to release a series of their own remixes for RAM tracks and looks like that's going to be true, starting with Get Lucky:

Shame it's not really a remix, just an extended edit of the song which (imo) makes it incredibly underwhelming.
Hope any other remixes they do channel old school Daft Punk a little more. -

Registered 10 years agoYeah - gave this a spin this morning and it really bored me. Let's hope the others are better, eh? I can't wait to hear the remixes of 'Contact' and 'Giorgo by Moroder'. -

Registered 14 years agoHad RAM on repeat for the last few days, it's great! I get why people might be iffy about it, but I personally am very impressed with it!
I think it's supposed to be a kind of introspective (haven't read a word about it), hence all those disco rifts and the Georgio track etc.
Definitely enjoyed best when listened to as a whole, although the Pharrell tracks and Doing it Right stand out as brilliant singles!

Registered 9 years agoI also think it is great. But maybe because I haven't heard of their previous works, apart from the obvious singles. -

That's pretty amazing really. The band just think it's simply down to people who just want cheering up. -

I picked up The Q Sessions by Within Temptation recently. WT are a Dutch Symphonic Rock band, and to celebrate their 15th Anniversary, a radio station asked them to cover 15 current songs in a WT style.
Some of the stuff on there is corking - covers of David Guetta's 'Titanium' and Lana Del Rey's 'Summertime Sadness' in particular, but there's also a song called 'Don't you Worry Child' by some people called Swedish House Mafia.
Are they any good? I'll have a listen to some of their stuff when I get home, but just wondered what the jury thought? -

Registered 17 years ago@boo I'd be surprised if you hadn't heard at least a few SHM songs even by stealth.
One (Your Name), Greyhound, Antidote or Here We Go the list goes on they've had massive radio exposure.
looking up the cover version i'm not sure you'll like the original as much but who knows.
