Don't kids learn to swim in school in the UK? Here in Belgium it's like a mandatory thing.
English schools give kids just enough free lessons to be embarrassed if they don't know how to swim but not enough to actually learn how to properly.
Or none at all if your Junior school teacher somehow manages to upset the coach company and the swimming pool so that we never get any lessons again.
Or your secondary school is underfunded and it takes them years to save the money to eventually get the pool fixed four years after you've left.

I try to limit the amount of stuff our kids do.
My daughter did some gymnastics, which was 1,5 hours on Wednesday afternoon from age 5-7 or so. Then they wanted to move her up to a more advanced group with training on Monday 6:30-8:00pm, Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning.

We thanked for that. Her bed time was 7:30 at the time.

She now does youth movement on Saturday afternoon and a few months back she herself decided she wanted to join theatre class with her best friend from school, so there's that on Wednesdays. Seem like more than enough for now. Between homework and these 2 activities, she has some downtime to just mope about about being bored and playing when she finally figures out what she wants to play.

    @Graxlar_v3

Ha my middle child is nearly 6 and doesn't say a word. Equally a blessing and heart breaking.

My eldest thinks she a teenager. Tonight was her first answering back and refusing to apologise. It's left me really depressed. What happened to the nice person she was a couple of months back before secondary school and hormones.

@FWB interesting, but I think CH has a better idea...

My wife's studying child development as part of her teaching assistant exams at the moment and I'm studying compassion and mindfulness, so know a fair bit already, but I might pick up that audio book and see if it helps.

Failing that I'm taking the TV remote and her iPod until she turns back into a human being.

I've got so much downtime in this 'job' that I've decided to teach myself Excel formulae...

    Fuck Excel formulae.

I did it! I made this formula: https://www.wiseowl.co.uk/excel/exercises/standard/advanced-ifs/4340/

I'm far too pleased with myself about it too.

Youtube's Creater Studio. Whenever you're trying to leave Creator Studio Beta for Creator Studio Classic, this feedback thing pops up where it asks you why you want to leave Beta. I've told you before, because it's got not even half the features (including essential ones like playlists and end screens), which you know perfectly well, so fucking stop asking me every single fucking time.

It's a disgrace, I'm literally shaking with anger.

Makes sense. It sounds annoying, but it seems better than a top job in Britain in the near future, like organ trade

I seem to have been struck down by a virus on Christmas Eve. Full on sweating, feverish and shaking like a shitting dog.

My own fault for getting hammered drunk for the vast majority of last week and smashing my immune system into oblivion. But its still an utter shitter.

People who not only piss standing up into the toilet with the seat down when there's a urinal RIGHT THERE, and not only manage to splatter their wee all over said toilet seat, but then also make no attempt at all to wipe it off. I mean, I know a toilet seat is going to be swimming in germs even if it looks dry and clean, but at least let me have my illusion.

I wonder if their aim is better when it's their own toilet.

Surely if they only pee on the seat it would be germ free as pee is sterile. It is people that sit down to pee or refuse to squat on the seat whilst having a shite all down the cubicle walls that are the real problem.
