@DUFFMAN5 Have you tried wanking in the shower Duff? It definitely gives you something to do when bored of games. |
Gaming apathy (or just getting bored with it all).

Registered 3 years agoI play administration / crime admin simulation games almost exclusively nowadays. Can't recall the last FPS I played.
I think I subconsciously choose games based on how shit their hardware requirements are.
I have not played Shadow gangs -

Registered 13 years agoI have just been through a bored of gaming phase over winter duff, just do other stuff for a bit. It has made me wonder about taking part in the next gen at the end of the year, but I do like the new shiny.
Try some different games, you dug EGttR, have you tried Life is Strange 2? Or 1? Nice relaxing gaming, you can drop at any point and a nice story to hook you in. That and telltale stuff have eased me back from gaming ennui many a time!

Registered 13 years agoYeah, ok, there was some tough stuff in it storywise, but i meant more that it was easy to pick up do a few sections, then leave it if you wanted to.
It was more relaxing playing them for me than relentless pvp multiplayer action. -

What about trying something completely different from what you normally play, e.g. a quality JRPG like Persona 5 or something relaxing and rewarding like BoTW? -

I honestly, would just take a break and do something else Duff. Late last year I got a bit bored of games so just went off and watched some Anime. I had completed zero games by the end of March (I am upto 3 now), it was quite nice to get away from it all. -

Registered 8 years agoI’ve recently given up certain types of gaming, been quite therapeutic. All online gaming has gone out the window,
I’m now playing adventure/story based games, ie Doom, Hellblade, Tomb Raider, Uncharted etc.
Really has been quite refreshing, a start, an end and a feeling of achievement. I can’t see myself going back to the online stuff tbh, so much else to play..
Online gaming whilst years ago was good fun, it’s too competitive now and doesn’t fit in with life and relaxation.. and tbh I’m just too damn old to keep it up!
Single player is just easier and more enjoyable, and there’s some bloody amazing games out there..
Try it for a while.. ? -

I often rate my gaming that way now. Am I having fun? If a game makes me frustrated I just drop it mostly now. I am probably going to give up racing games as I have a wheel etc but just tweak settings and have a few races and then get nailed online. I have tendinitis so that amplifies how easily I get pissed off.
After just turning off my Xbox, and PS4 earlier due to boredom for the second night on the trot, when I actually have (had) a good few hours of uninterrupted gaming, I wonder if I am getting bored of off gaming.
I think I play through habit above any other drive. For example Gears of war as many of you know is my total passion, however I would honestly say that 80% of the time I spend with it, I fucking loathe it... Or to say it correctly, I loathe how shit I am at the multiplayer.
This is true I really suck, but I am absolutely addicted to the high I get on the once or twice per night when I make an unbelievable play.
All the other times I come off flat and pissed off/angry. I don't need to tell you guys it is only a game of course, but that is too easy.
Moving on to my tons of other games, I play them but I'm trying to annalise if I actually "have fun" I'm not so sure I do. It is just rote I think.
Over this week I have played and been frustrated we so many games, even the ones I have had fun with.
I think I wish I could knock it on the head and do other things in the evenings or weekends...
Anyway just fancied a moan.
I only enjoy gears if playing it coop with mates or the mrs, otherwise nah, not for me!

@Harry, I gave up racing games as well, although I do play an hour of Forza H every now and again.
Also I do play many different genres of games. I know one thing that has done me no favours is playing too many games at once. Which I tend to shy away from, as my "ordered" brain likes 1 or 2 games played until completion.
Too much choice is not always a great thing. 👍😉 -
I just start wanking in my neighbours garden when I'm bored of gaming. If I'm really bored I'll cry whilst doing it. -

I've totally given up pc gaming and decided to simplify my other gaming choices by generally playing only first party Nintendo games. I'll make an exception for a couple of other games per year that seem must haves, such as the forthcoming Mr Driller title. But on the whole I want only a few rather than thousands of choices.
This way I'll have the choice of perhaps half a dozen games per year. I've stopped reading game reviews and general game news too. I'm focusing on other hobbies such as reading and boardgames. It's working well so far. -

How are you set up for retro stuff, Duff? I find going back to some old shit occasionally reminds me why I do this, refreshes things a bit. Play something that brings back the feels.
Also, were there four duffmans before you?
