I'll wait with hosing my system until it's officially released....gif)
But be my guest and tell me whether the Dock on the side still looks really crappy... -

Keep us posted Crispy. I couldn't be arsed to try out the new build, decided to just wait for a proper release. I've had my fun with leaked betas for now

Admittedly I hardly know anyone who uses the minimise button - I only ever use it when there's a webpage I want to save off to one side, but can't be arsed bookmarking... -

Edit: Is now! -
Looking alright really aside from that horrible wallpaper. -

Mouse, any ideas on the frontrow problem?
Sorry mate, never looked when I was running it. Maybe it hasn't been plugged in yet, I dunno. Tried Cmd-Esc? -

When you minimise stuff it takes way too much space and when i have like 2 things minimised of the same program it should just group them really. -
Jesus, H, Christ.
GREEN menu bar? Eh??!??!?!one!11?!!
EDIT: Oh, it's 'transparent'. Please tell me you can turn that monstrosity off and keep it the colour it's supposed to be instead of some gay pastel version of whatever your desktop is. Please. -
So is this a new beta? Stable? Did you set up a partition to run it or something? I'm intrigued and interested...
-
And on a partition or a seperate drive? Surely everyone hasn't overwritten their Tiger system with this? -
Erk... I'd feel very vulnerable installing an OS beta over Tiger. -

Registered 18 years agoIf you are used to working with virtual desktops then spaces is for you. I find expose really handy for managing multiple apps & document windows, so I am not sure if spaces will be much use to me, although I haven't tried it yet. -
God I hate the design of the new Front Row. Apple's UI guys have gone totally backwards :/ Hope I can skin it somehow, I don't think I'll be able to stand it. -

Registered 20 years agoNew FrontRow is the AppleTV interface, isn't it? I'm not a huge fan either, although it's fairly functional at least.
(That said, I barely ever use Frontrow, so meh...) -

Yep, same as AppleTV. I use FrontRow as the media center on my TV-connected mini, so that's why I'm a bit annoyed that it seems to have taken a step backwards into the ugly bush. -
Oh yeah, the new version of iLife is a bit meh apparently.
iMovie's been dumbed down a fook load. No timeline! -
The new iMovie is great! If like me you have a huge collection of DV which is almost impossible to search properly, the new skimming feature is a flipping godsend. It effectively removes the need to make videos!
The main thing they need to fix for the next version: user needs to be able to change the time stamps (iMovie screws them up). -
iPhoto recently got used by me for making Photobooks but that's all it's good for the way I use my Mac. iTunes, obviously, but that's not part of iLife as such, is it? Don't bother using anything else as I don't make DVDs or home movies on my Mac. Is GarageBand part of iLife? I don't use that either. -

Networking and sharing are vastly improved, makes life much easier. Not sure about stacks though, I think I prefered them in Tiger.
You think you preferred what in Tiger? The fact that they didn't exist? -

You do realise that maximising a window often results in NO new information being displayed? The "maximise" button in OSX increases the size of the window until it accommodates all information in it. There is absolutely no reason for it to be any bigger, and having it bigger will not be of any benefit. See how smart OSX is, and how silly/stupid Windows can be?
One of my pet peeves is people who INSIST on maximising every window in sight, as if they're too retarded to cope with more than one thing on screen at a time. People used to do it all the time on my Vista box and it drives me insane. Oh wow, those white borders on the website make it so much better, thanks for maximising it.
/severe roll of eyes. -
You do realise he probably won't see that due to the age of his post right? -

I know, but I just checked the forums for the first time in ages. How's Leopard going? The menu-bar transparency is a little different in the newer builds, it all looks lovely!
And with student discount it's only £60!
-
I think the menu bar transparency is ugly. Can you turn it off? -

Youre right, it is ugly, bt no, you can't turn it off. I should imagine it's quite easily hackable if you search about for a bit. -
I'm going to have to hand my macbook in on friday (last day of my job).
As I'll likely be buying a new/2nd hand macbook out of my own pocket, can anyone recommend me the most cost-effective way of getting one?
With Leopard would be good. I'm happy to have the 'old' 2GHz non pro 13" ones. More than what I need.
